Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen, or the glue that was used to put display together.
Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

Yes, by all means if your definition of new phone experiece is: "pay for it, send it to service center, and get it back in a month or 2 and then you say to yourself, "wow, how sweet my new xperia s is."
I just don't get it. Why would you walk to the valley of death when you already know what awaits you there?
Haven't you heard of HTC One X which is already launched globally? It has quad cores, gorgeous 4.7 inch gorilla glass 2 protected, ips technology Super LCD 2?
& it doesn't come with yellow patches, which you might miss given that in your case.
or the google nexus phone...you get the real ICS without crapwares that drains your battery away...fastest update you can get from google too
Thanks for the response,
The launching event has a promo price for the Xperia so it's kinda lucrative to buy it, but yeah.. I'll have to make decision whether I'll risk my money for the possibility of having a faulty display.
I just wish Sony released an official statement to it's customer regarding this issue not just by sending an email to a website (Cnet) since many of its service centre haven't acknowledged this problem nor know how to fix it.
Sony can't just do that or everyone will stop buying their phone until they fixed the problem and someone actually tried to buy it and find it out later on and tell everyone "hey I just bought an xperia s and it doesn't have the yellow spots around the screen anymore!"
It's best to sacrifice users...marketing can be evil at some point...
One X is definitely in my list. I've never owned an Android device so the decision is kinda crucial for me LOL.
Price is also comes into consideration. One X priced approximately Sing$898 (US 690) while the Xperia S priced US $605 or $550 (after discount) here..
I'm also considering One S but I don't think it'll be released here.. HTC also hasn't released an official statement on when their One devices will be released in Indonesia.
I actually really like the design of the Xperia S and I don't think I'll need a quadCore proc if it means sacrificing the battery life.
As for the Yellow tint probs, I've read some of Xperia owners here experienced it and file a complaint to the Sony Centre but told to adress the problem to the (Retail) Store where they bought the device.
A small number succeeded in having a replacement handset in the Store (Retail Store).. But I don't think it'll apply to all Stores.
xperia s is tagged at SGD898 at retail price.
anyway, since this is your first android phone, please don't buy xperia s at the moment
how about the google nexus. It'll give you the best android experience on OS updates and performance wise I believe it's still better since it's not loaded with custom widgets and apps that you can't remove and stuff
for performance, it does a pretty good job when i tried the display unit in the store. I'm not into gaming with cellphones so gaming performance isn't my concern here...
and oh yeah...you get to play with NFC too
Hi, Markus. Just to only let you know that, my Xperia S have the same problem (yellow patch) again after replace the LCD from the service center. I think Sony still can't fix this problem at the moment. I had email to the service center at Singapore and tell them that I will wait until the problem fixed LCD, then i will bring my phone to there. I really hope that Sony can fix this problem as soon as they can. I also think that a new replacement for the phone is not a good idea at the moment. People out there are not very happy about this issue, me too. But for me i can still live with that yellow patch at the moment.
Hope you can bring some good news from Sony to those user out there and me.
Thank You,
DJINGGA
It would be to Sony's best intreset to come here and talk to us about this isssue.
At least say what model has the issue and which regions don't what week production. Something.
I guess all regions have this issue?
I bougt one from HongKong had the issue and I bought one from Germany has the same issue
This is what I was subliminally suspecting that SONY might just try to buy some time by replacing the the faulty screen with another one of the exact same kind! Or did they just try tweaking the software without even replacing it? SONY should not waste users' precious time!
Now it is the 10th day and I'm seriously waiting for a call from SONY saying that mine is fixed genuinely and ready for collection.
It will be the greatest letdown ever if SONY can't do a good job this time. I've been mainly using SONY (previously SE) phones for the past several years; k750i, W810, Satio, Xperia Arc and Xperia S.
Definately an unfortunate situation for all of us believing in Sony for delivering a complete product, I have the Week 8 production from HK and I am in the US and there is nothing that I could do for this. You buy a phone and it comes with problem from day one.(maybe day 10) but it troubling everyone.
