Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

I purchased mine in singapore and I just noticed the yellow tint that goes real bad around the edge of the screen, both left and right, and bottom of the screen...It becomes clearer when the phone gets warmer and less visible when the battery temperature goes down.

Looks like the screen was badly pressed against the display glass and produced that color...I don't really know but this color isn't suppose to be there unpleasant to my eyes.

I've contacted sony and waiting for their reply...

I was wondering if they will provide us a solution that totally fix this problem or simply replace some part of our phones....a replacement to a different batch without this problem would be so much appreciated.....

At least they're not denying this problem and gave us free 10 dollar phone cover

Totally agreed! As a result of this, i've been told to wait and wait and i don't have my phone for easter holidays!

We are not suppose to pay for something new that is defective and wait for new parts to get it fixed and when it is fixed, we have to go to the service center and called it, "Well, this is my lovely new phone."

It is just ridiculous.

Hey Markus Please tell SONY MOBILE INDONESIA about this issue, because i can't replacement my Xperia s in Indonesia, the customer care would not change my xperia s, but instead he told me to claim warranty, thanks

I don't think Markus can help with your situation there. Warranty and stuff varies from country to country...

For Indonesia...I believe they all work this way;

Authorised Reseller sells things, and they care nothing about warranty.

Authorised Service Provider is the one that you go for and claim warranty there.

Customer Care only care about selling/promoting their product and will direct any of your complaints on your purchases to service center to handle your complaints.

I believe the same thing applied to BlackBerry devices sold in Indonesia as well...and...Apple products...

hi all, im from malaysia and this is my feedback. sorry for my english as this is a copy/paste from my local forum that i wrote.

i already got my back phone from the service centre on 7th now i got to send back to them. they told me they already replace a new screen and somehow tweak the software to reduce it. when i got there i feel like nothing has been fix...same yellow problem.

i decided to get back the phone since theres no real solution from them. i got the phone back with a scratch on the batt cover(where imei sticker) and some kind of glue on the usb cover. got them replaced on the spot.

when i get back i noticed my phone reception is very low 1 bar or no signal at all. i already make comparison with other phone with same service provider. i even changed a new sim card. My phone speaker also softer even with xloud enable. Had a trip to sony centre and compare with the demo set. the seller comfirm mine is a bit softer and asked me to go complaint. my phone also had a few extra apps(snooker game, pptv and etc) My facebook app has some1 else email on it. At this point im not sure if that even required for testing purposes. the default browser and few games i installed is sufficient to check for yellow with just 1 touch to open a browser with white background. feel like its been use for personal use instead.

I went there again today to return it and complaint. they still refuse to give me a new 1 after all  the trouble the phone had given me. In fact i would happy enuf to have the phone back without any new problem as i can live with the yellow for a while. Now i gotta wait minimum of 3 days again which i bet it will take longer.

Mind u i only have this phone on my hands for 2 days only and this phone has more time with them compare to me. At this moment i dont feel its worth money spent and i will lodge a report to my local consumer tribunal to demand a new free from defective or my money back if they still insist me to live with the fact that i just bought a defective phone.

You're not alone...we all became the victim of Sony and then we became the victim of their service center... I dont think sony has a solution to this at the moment and thats why they dodnt say anything so far...they did say this problem affected small number of their devices and I dont think it's true...they had to say small number of their devices or people will stop buying the phone until they fix it...while giving existing users a false hope thinking that they have fixed the problem

It seems that Sony does not want to reply anymore against the faulty screen and the faulty product. They did not show their sincerity to repair the product as soon as possible, nor perform a product recall, nor provide any solution to solve the problem.

Not like iphone 4s their antenna problem, they produce plastic cover fot the affected user for free. The upcoming 4s had fix the problem before launch.

To dear Sony, please at least do something( quick repair / replacement for faulty phone)

Actually my previous Nokia N8 works much more better than xperia S, at least the screen is normal, the focusing time is short, though camera start time is longer, but at last the clear picture produce faster.

In Chinese word, " with greater hope, got greater disappointment."

They'll probably fix this on the next batch and next generation of the xperia phones and abandon us since we don't generate income to them.

I want to buy this phone during the Indonesian launching event on 12-15th April but the Yellow Tint issue is really making me worry.

Is there already any confirmation whether the so-called 2nd batch already been shipped?

Will upgrading the firmware helping with the Tint issue?

As far as I know noone succeeded on getting their problem solved in the service center. If they were to have their phone replaced/exchanged/fixed, it doesn't guarantee that you won't get a handset without the yellow spot anyway.

Considering that the launching date is dead close, I can assume that they have the stock ready there and all those should be on the same batch with the same problem

I would suggest you not to get it as soon as you can, or you can opt for another android devices as there are so many of them out there. We don't want you to join us here, but I can't prevent you from joining us here either so it's your decision.
