Xperia U downgraded to 2.3 - battery charging but stuck at 2%

So after many problems with 4.0 on my xperia U, I took it to carphone warehouse and they repaired it and downgraded to 2.3.

the phone is working perfectly but I've been charging for an hour and it's stuck at 2%? 

is this normal?

will I need to keep it on charge overnight or something?

What do I do to make sure it's charging properly?

Hi. The same problem happened to me. When you charge it, it says 2%. But after a few minutes, it rises up slowly.
