Had my phone 2 months now, but noticed i keep receiving the same text message twice, either straight away, or about 5 minutes apart. Doesnt happen all the time, but about 4/5 times a day.
I contacted my network who told me they havnt seen this for years, a 'mobile station error' where my phone doesnt always send a signal to my network to say i recieved it
They just told me to reset it, which i did, took it back to factory settings.....which worked for about 2 days, but i just received a double message again
Please can someone tell me if they no a fix, i really dont want to have to have the hassle of sending it back and wait for a repair
many thanks
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!
On AT&T in the USA, and been dealing with this issues for several months. My best friend was dealing with the same issue before her kicked the bucket.
I've used the sony xperia T with a UK operator (giffgaff - o2 network) and an italian operator (Tim) without a problem. Only with a france operator (freemobile) I'm having this problem. So the phone is able to send ack to same operators, not to all. Sony should fix this
There is a similar vein running through every post about Android & messed up messaging.
In my case, a Sony C5 Ultra. It went from fine to not fine in the course of a few days. It'd been a while since I did a factory reset, so I backed it all up & ran it. I then ran the Companion repair (essentially the same thing, again)> still I was experiencing these issues:
1) messaging taking nearly 30 seconds to open
2) each message taking that long to open
3) Once open, I couldn't "go back" to the message list & had to kill it & start over, for each message (sporadic, not every time)
4) messages taking from hours to days to come through, with some messages "broken apart" & delivered pieces at a time, across multiple days
Researching through many different sites, the "fix" seems to be to delete cache or uninstall the Google Hangouts app, and/or the new Messaging app for Facebook. It looks like they're all attempting to "control" the message service & so it gets confused. At this moment, with Hangouts cache-cleared & FB Messenger uninstalled, I am now waiting about 10 secs. for my Sony messaging to open & then the individual messages open immediately w/o lag. I can now also go back to select other messages w/o issue.
Long story short-- I believe other messaging apps, of any kind, can or will cause trouble & ought to be the first thing you suspect. I'm currently running Android 5.1, kernel 3.10.72+
HTH others.
*UPDATE:
Phone is still doing it-- again.
I moved the SIM into an old Huawei G526 & the messages my daughter had sent ALL flew in, one after the other.
So it IS the C5 at fault.
Anyone from Sony interested in helping fix a phone issue?
TracyF, looks like you sorted the problem out but has Sony acknowledged it?
I have the receiving of duplicate sms text message problem on my Xperia S - not all the time but recently I have had a spate of them. I haven't changed any settings on my phone. But anyway, several different phones seem to be subject to this problem.
Hello Sony!!! Hello Sony!!!
