Had my phone 2 months now, but noticed i keep receiving the same text message twice, either straight away, or about 5 minutes apart. Doesnt happen all the time, but about 4/5 times a day.
I contacted my network who told me they havnt seen this for years, a 'mobile station error' where my phone doesnt always send a signal to my network to say i recieved it
They just told me to reset it, which i did, took it back to factory settings.....which worked for about 2 days, but i just received a double message again
Please can someone tell me if they no a fix, i really dont want to have to have the hassle of sending it back and wait for a repair
many thanks
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!
Sam, I have 2 of these handsets, both O2 branded and up to date with the latest versions of the firmware (4.1.2 - 9.1.A.1.141). No matter what network sim is inserted into, I have this issue. If I place the same sim cards in another phone eg SE K850 I do not have the issue. The network providers were my first port of call. They say it is a handset issue. I am aware of other XT customers who have the same issue (see comments in this thread). SBE (your repair centre) also found the issue with the handset which was with them for a total of 7 weeks. They did not resolve the issue. The common factor in receiving duplicate text messages is the XT handset. Can you answer the following questions.
1. Why do I only face the issue when the sim cards are in the XT.
2. SBE said that they modified the software to provide a solution, however the first text message I received upon return of the handset was duplicated, so have you spoken to SBE about my case.
3. Why did SBE say it is an issue with the XT handset, however cannot provide a solution - would this not suggest a software issue, as SBE can only reload existing software.
I look forward to hearing from you Sam.

This is happening on my daughters phone. It is not network or Sim related - It is handset related.
We have 7 phones in our household, a mixture of windows, iPhone and Android (Samsung, Nexus, Xperia) using multiple networks. The Xperia is the only one that gets the multiple texts. We have :-
- Sent a text from each of the 7 phones to every other phone,
- Sent texts from each network (o2, vodaphone, EE) to each handset, on the same network
- Sent texts from each network to each handset on the other networks
- swapped sim cards so that each handset is using a different sim card - repeated the tests above.
In each case the Xperia handset received multiple copies of the same text when no other phone did.
This happened across multiple networks and for different sim cards.
The only common factor was the handset - Only the Xperia got duplicate messages.
Not sure how that fits with the assertion that its most likely network \ carrier related ?
Thanks for the detailed reply OldNich, I am certainly convinced that this is the case.
I will look forward to see what Sam has to say on the matter.
It is certainly odd that there are only a couple of networks being mentioned here and that it is not a widespread problem which you would assume it would be if it were a common issue with the phone. For these reasons I am lead to believe that it would have been a SIM or network related issue however if you are adamant that it is not I can really only advise clearing the message application, reinstalling the firmware if this does not work and if all else fails returning the handset so that it may be assessed by an authorised repair agent.

Thanks for your reply Sam. Sam you say it is "odd that there are only a couple of networks being mentioned". If I understand correctly, OldNich mentioned, O2, Vodafone and EE. I have tested on both O2 and "3", so this would mean that this is happing on 4 networks that we are aware of and not 2 networks as you state and earlier posts in this thread also state that this is happening on Orange and T-Mobile.
Also would you be able to offer any further explanation as to the following
Kind regards
I'm having this problem several times a day on the 3 network which is why I have googled to see if anyone else has the same problem.
Does anyone have a definitive reason yet as to whether its a handset or network fault please??
Sam, are you able to offer comment on my latest reply?
Kind regards
Sam, are you able to offer comment on this please
Kind regards
Unfortunately there is not much more I can add to what I have stated. I have implied that if you gone through all of the other possibilities above I can only advise you to have the handset assessed by an authorised repair agent.
