Xperia S: turning PTP mode fails

When i connect my phone to the pc it's automatically set to MTP connection. I want to turnit too PTP. when ii get to the menu and i switch it to PTP, it instantly and automatically switch back to MTP. 

How do I correct this please?

Which android version does your phone has? I can't find that menu on my Xperia S

I could access that menu with a little trick: when i open the app "helium" it directs me to that menu and asks me to change the settings of the usb connection. any way what i want to do is to set it on PTP and not MTP. but when i mark MTP, it automatically switch back to PTP (maybe that is due to accessing the settings through the helium app, not sure)

anyway, would you show me the path to get to the menu? i'm on android 4.1.2

That's the reason, you can't switch it.
