I have a problem with my new Xperia Ray.
I've got it from a friend since he has bought an iPhone insted.
The phone used to work perfectly when he had it, but with my SIM-card in it, there is no network.
I get a message saying something similar to "Network not supported by your SIM-card".
What does this mean... ?
Is it SIM-locked, or does it need to be repaired or something like that?
Thanks in advance.

Got a similar problem, my phone works perfectly fine up in Canada but when I go to the States it's unable to connect to a network. If I put my sim card in another phone it will connect just fine. I put the number in above and got all 0's. Does anybody know what's going on?
Is your phone a SIM free phone or is it locked to a specific carrier. Either way it should allow roaming as I have had both and they automatically find a local network when abroad.
Try searching for networks :
MENU --> SETTINGS --> WIRELESS AND NETWORK --> MOBILE NETWORK -->Network operators
Is it able to find any of the local American networks
Finally make sure your signal was set to WCDMAprefered/GSM.
click "MENU" on front of phone, click "settings" on the bottom right of the screen
click "Wireless and Networks" at the top of the screen, Click "Mobile Networks" at the bottom of the screen,
click "Network Mode" and select WCDMAprefered/GSM.
Got it set to WCDMAprefered/GSM, the American networks show up but when I try to connect i get the message "Could not connect to the selected network. Make sure the sim card is inserted or the selected network is available". Tried both automatic and manual search modes. Got a Sony Ericsson Ray st18a if that helps.
Hi Waldo11
Just to check that you have roaming enabled
click "MENU" on front of phone, click "settings" on the bottom right of the screen
click "Wireless and Networks" at the top of the screen, Click "Mobile Networks" at the bottom of the screen,
Click Data Roaming and set to International instead of National.
Also Network Mode trying setting it to WCDMA only or GSM only.
Lastly it might be something to do with the Radio, try activating flight mode then deactivate Fight Mode as this turns the radio off and on.
As someone on a forum suggested "i thought the radio on the phone uses the earphones as an antennae so i plugged them in and behold i got my signal back and no longer saying your sim does not allow connection to all you guys n girls having this problem as well".
Yup it sounds like your device is sim locked... you need to remove the lock in order to use your sim in it... you can do that by purchasing unlock codes from any third party vendors online like Theunlockspot.com
