Right,
for anyone reading this, there are a couple things you should try.
Firstly take your sim out and try it on another phone, this is to see whether there is a fault with the sim itself.
Secondly insert a new sim into your phone to see if that works. If it does chances are your phone is messed up.
If you don't have the option to try this because like me you're at work or have no phones or sim's around then just do what i did.
Factory reset! This will erase all your data so make sure you've backed everything up.
The factory reset sorted everything out for me.
Hi, try something simple .... remove and reinsert SIM card and see if this helps.

Hi thank you for your quick reply.
I took the sim and battery out 5 minutes ago, i'll give it another 5 and try inserting the sim only without the SD card.
Thanks again.

Still no luck i'm afraid.
Still no service.
Yellow triangle with exclamation mark still there.
Another easy one to check, contact your Network Operator to confirm that the network is fine.
Alternatively, see if you are able to test your SIM card on another phone and also check with another SIM Card on your phone.

This will be problematic as I'm at work currently and have access to no other phones or sim's.
I can try this later when i get home, currently in Sony xperia chat support.
Will update asap.
Good luck! Hopefully it is neither the software or hardware issue ....
