Xperia Go gets Crack and scratch on its screen

Hi Sony Support

Greetings for the day.

I had seen the promos and advertisement of Sony xperia go, I specially want to quote "The first number refers to protection against solid objects; the second refers to protection against liquids"(as mentioned on Sony India website against Sony Xperia Go), which made my decision to purchase xperia go one month ago(from Paragon Udaipur,  Inv. No: 12/11014).

Unfortunately my handset dropped from study table (Height 2.5 feet), and phone glass cracked. I had contacted the Sony regional customer care, they told me it would not cover under warrenty. Product does not even fulfil its feature SHATTER PROOF SCREEN & SCRACH RESISTENT.It am feeling being cheated.

I would request Sony to please look into this matter and provide me screen replacement.

Attached is snapshot of phone screen for your reference.

Regards

Jagrat Joshi

You have just broken digitizer, not lcd, but ...

Repair costs about 140e (part purchase price for the service is about 80e)

Why so big price? - digitizer, lcd, seals, everything glued into one piece! - because IP67

. Any idea on how to do that. It seems to be glued. Do I need a heating gun.

I have same problem, they fall on the floor for new year, and that it's on sony site:

Strong enough for life’s little problems

For something that’s such a vital part of life, most smartphones can’t handle life’s little bumps. Now there’s an Android smartphone you never have to worry about. Xperia go is a dust-proof, water-resistant phone. Sure, you can take it on a hike through the rainforest. But it’s made for less dramatic challenges. Like a drop into the flour while you’re baking, a “surprise” dive into the fishbowl and whatever else daily life has in store.

Me too!  Mine is Sony Xperia Go which i just bought a month ago

My phone didn't fall even for once.

It was just placed on a table, As I was trying to open the back part of our aicon remote control

the batteries slide on my hands and I was surprised to see

Glass was cracked after one AA Battery fell on it. (about 1 ft height only)

But LCD is still working well.

I also inquired with Sony Xperia Service Center

and i was shocked knowing the price for parts P7,270.00 plus P560.00 for the labour fee.

This simply means I need to spend almost P8,000 which is almost 70% cost of my phone.

I dont think the cost is fair...

I mean I also read reviews regarding this particular case.

Checked ebay for spare parts which this Touch Screen Digitizer from Hongkong

would only cost me $49.90 (P2,000.00) free shipping fee.

I understand that sony has to increase the price.. of course for some business and technical reasons.

But coming up to Almost P8,000 would mean alot.

Now Im planning to order parts from ebay and replace it myself.

Do you know any video links for self replacement of touch digitizer got Xperia GO? P

Please help?? thanks!

Dear Sony,

I purchased an Xperia go 'tough' smartphone from one of the Croma outlets in Mumbai on 02 Sep 12. Believing the salesman when he said it was a 'tough' smartphone and placing my faith in the company, I used it accordingly, like a 'tough' phone. I replaced my BB when I bought this one. So it's pretty clear that I really did need a tough phone. Also, I chose it over a number of other better priced competitors and didn't mind paying the extra buck... Believing it to be a tough cookie.

However, the phone's screen cracked when it had a fall from my pocket onto the floor (height not exceeding 1.5 mtrs). The personnel from your service center in Tardeo have now asked me to cough up Rs 8000.00 more for repairs which is pretty much half the MRP!

I can only implore you to try and understand the mindset and rationale behind somebody who buys a tough product. These are the people    who really need to use it in a way that you advertised it. We compromised over a couple of Hertz, bits and bucks just so we could have a product that LASTS.

Now a certain level of maturity is expected from a company of your stature, as in a product designed and advertised as a tough phone cannot be treated at par with the others. Yes, the screen is cracked. But that's exactly why I bought this product... To see to it that this day doesn't come at all! You shouldn't be asking me to pay to have it back. Just isn't fair!

Considering the above mentioned, I will be highly obliged if you would kindly waiver the repair charges or charge me for the repairs and buy the phone back please!

Thanking You,

Vishal

I remember those days when Sony 'Ericsson' used to make solid phones like Nokia. Neutral_Face

Also in need of a dissasembly guide. Ordered the replacement screen from ebay. Got as far removing all the screws from the back after taking off the rear case but couldnt separate the remaining parts for fear of damaging the components inside. It seems that a heat gun will be necessary looking at the spare screen and of other videos of other sony models when the screen needs to be replaced http://youtu.be/FfGOCGeMiWc?t=4m45s
