I have had my Xperia Arc S since 2011, good phone overall, impressed. Does what I want it to do.
About 9 months ago my phone was being really slow, and being already technically gifted, straight away came to the conclusion that the phone memory was full.
This is the start of my dilemma
Xperia Arc S already comes as standard with social networking applications already on the phone. These all update automatically, (or wait for permission)
So if I were to try and "remove" preinstalled app, it wouldn't remove it just "revert to factory settings"
OK this is all well and good, but, I want this application off my phone memory and installed on to my 8GB SD card, but, it won't do it
The phone has now got to the point where I cannot update the preinstalled apps, as there is "insufficient space" although apps wise there is nothing really that I have downloaded to really consume any of the space.
I keep photos and music off my phone, and I frequently turn my phone off (daily) and also use cache cleaner app (lightweight) to try and keep my phone workable.
It has now got to the point where my phone rings, and my contact doesn't update on the phonecall til after the call has finished!
Short of getting a rootkit, to get rid of all the crappy free preinstalled apps, I don;t know what to do!

To free more space on your phone you can move all movable apps to the SD card if you go into settings > apps > "on SD card" > press on an app > move to SD card.
As you said it's not possible to uninstall preinstalled apps but you can uninstall all updates for the app and then inactivate the app.
Also go into settings > apps > the tab "all" > menu button > sort by size. Sometimes apps get bigger then they are supposed to. Then you can clear data for those apps. For example apps like "Google maps, Facebook, browser, data monitor and entertainment can get quite big sometimes and then you can clear data for those.
I recommend rooting and finding a good ROM. Seeing as you are already "technically gifted", you should have no problems and there is very little risk unless you unlock your bootloader. Stick a decent ROM on there and you're good to go.
To give you perspective on how easy the process is, I rooted my Arc S two years ago when I was thirteen just a fortnight after buying it. I have bricked it multiple times and it has always taken me less than fifteen minutes to get my phone back to it's original state through nandorid backup.
If you haven't rooted many phones already, Titanium Backup is the best way to uninstall bloatware.
Just to let you know, I'm currently on Xperia Ultimate HD 3.0.2

Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated
Ola!
I have a problem with my Arc S. Lately, especially after updates, it gives me "low memory space" message and do not go away ... I think it refers to the internal memory of the phone that I do not think we can increase! So what do I do? I have a memory card on which I saved the Apps ... I do not have many, but ... you can see that the Arc S is not able to support more Apps in use .... I get the message at the top near the battery, pull-down menu main
How can I solve this problem without touching the root, rom, etc. ....?
Thanks
It's a serious problem, as i moved all possible apps to SD card, but oviously even after moving the apps they still use the device memory. Also I uninstalled all irelevant apps.
I am still all full now, and constantly having trouble using my device due to memory shortage, while there is 20 GB free on the device.
My phone is functioning fine otherwise, so will I have to throw it away due to this Sony support issue?
As far as I know, Android OS 4.2 should resolve this issue. Why Sony Xperia S is not upgradeble to higher Android version?
My Arc S doesn't allow me to update Apps like WhatsApp... The message is always the same: insufficent space on memory!!! . I delete many Apps and photos and Videos, bought external card fron 4GB but the problem doesn't solve and recurs every time!!! How can i solve the problem? Is there a solution?
Help me!
Thanks!
