Wifi connection to router disconnect during Screen Mirroring with Netgear PTV3000

Hello,

I have purchased the Netgear PTV3000 to do the Screen Mirroring via Miracast technology for my Xperia TX.

Unfortunately, once I use the function of screen mirroring to connect to PTV3000, my wifi connection to my router (Linksys WRT610n v2) would be disconnected either using 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz network, and then the mobile data would be used to achieve the internet browsing, but it seems to be non-sense that we would use the function of screen mirroring to have offline usage like viewing the photo/watching the video/listening to the music inside the phone storage if we didn't have any mobile data connectivity. Also, losing the wifi connection to router, the phone cannot be able to get the DLNA network, so I think it may be the bug as I heard other brand of Miracast-compatible device is able to keep the wifi connection alive when connecting to the miracast adapter.

Would you mind please kindly provide us the firmware update to trigger the issue?

Thanks & Regards

Keith

Some news?

This has been investigated and unfortunately it will not be possible to support Screen Mirroring and WiFi connection at the same time in this phone.

Hi all,

  1. Sony Xperia Z (Android 4.3) cannot work with both Wifi internet and Miracast at the same time. Does this mean that Sony should REMOVE the "WI-FI CERTIFIED" logo from its boxes? (The Netgear 802.11n USB dongles sold in Singapore have the "WI-FI CERTIFIED" logo removed.)
  2. I had to return a Sony Portable Wireless Server (WG-C20) because I could not project its contents to the Miracast receiver using my Xperia Z.
  3. Korean Samsung devices have NO such wifi internet disconnected problem compared to Japanese Sony.
  4. On a positive note, Samsung Miracast disconnects when Bluetooth speakers are connected, but Sony supports both Miracast and Bluetooth speakers.

Hope that helps!

Does the same problem exist with all Xperia phones? In particular would I be able to connect the Xperia Z1 Compact to miracast and wifi at the same time?

With Xperia Z, I experienced that, but with My xperia T can use PTV3000 and wifi in the same time. But, (but again)  xperia Z's miracast its more smootly than My T, wich is lagging using miracast.

But you can cast YouTube to TV when streaming it through router!
