I accidentally lost my contacts when i upgraded to Android 2.1 as i forgot to back them up to sim. whenever i recieved a text/phonecall after this, the person's name would appear as normal even though they weren't stored in my contacts list. I manually inputted important numbers which saved in the normal way in the contacts list, but was not able to save the details of people who text/called me by the usual method of opting to save in the menu. If I chose to save details, the number would be stored twice but would not appear in the contact list. As a result i have half of m contacts stored in my contact list and half in my text messages which is a nightmare! I can't work out how to restore it and i have tried to save my phone contacts to sim in case it happensagain, but it doesn't appear to work. Am i doing something wrong?

Sounds like you have some synced and some stored on your phones memory.
In your Contacts, press Menu and Contacts to View and then see what is ticked, eg Google synced or Phone Contacts. It sounds like you aren't set up to view one of them altho the numbers exist in that particular place.

Thanks, that seemed to do the trick
I have lost all my contacts and unable to reinstate from memory or another sim. Also my ¬telephone` icon has gone from my Home screen. Any help would be welcome
