what is reinstalling software ?

I have an experia p and i faced a kind of weird problem yesterday . It froze when I'm using it . so I kept the power button and volume up button pressed until 3 vibration and turned it on . First it stucked at sony logo , then xperia logo . I tried lot of times  But never came to the lockscreen . But then the phone didn't turned at all . when i press the power button , red light keeps blinking for few seconds . when i connect the charger red light lights up for about 1 second and gone . but no signs of charging . I took it to a local shop and  I replaced the battery but no luck  . he said , normally the red blink error occur due to a software problem , and i have to replace software  . And he asked $10 to do it . my question is , what is the " software " that he mentioned ? Is it like flashing custom roms using flashtool ?? because I know I tried to repair my phone using PC companion , but computer doesnt recognise my phone so it's not gonna work . Or is it anything else which is not related to roms ? please tell me and really approciate it ( sorry for my bad english )

Hey akesh, don't take my word for it but I believe that reinstalling the software is wiping out the partition that contains all of Android's source code, so to speak, and that the shop, like PC or Xperia Companion, (maybe try Xperia Companion first?) would try inserting another ROM. I hope this helps.

thanks for the reply .... i thnk if he's gonna try to reinstall some roms , it's not gonna work .  because i've try every way to connect the phone to computer . i'm little bit confused because i thought the rom is the only software  in thr phone . Anyway I think I have to do as he say . because I have no options Slightly_smiling_Face
