Hello friends.
My x10 mini pro is was working just fine until 3 days ago. But all of a sudden, it wasn't letting me send sms anymore. I still am able to receive sms though. Its just the problem with sending sms.
Whenever i try to send an sms, it shows 'sending' for like 4 seconds and then shows 'could not send'.
Been having this issue since 3 days and it still persists.
Let me tell you what all i have done. (Except for restarting the phone a million times)
1. Network tower issue: To check if the issue was with the tower, i moved a good 30 miles away to another tower and it still had the issue. Plus, my other friends living just next door are able to send and receive sms through the same network operator.
2. Phone software issue: To check if it was an issue with the phone, i flashed my phone with the pc companion and installed a fresh copy of android 2.1. But the problem persists.
3. Sim: I removed and re-inserted the sim card a few times just to make sure the contact was proper with the chip. And it was properly connected.
Now, the only thing thats left in my mind is if my operator changed the message centre number of the network.
But then, there's no way of changing or editing the message centre number in android 2.1.
It used to be in Home screen > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks > SMS centre in 1.6.
But unfortunately, it aint there anymore in 2.1.
If anyone could PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out with how to edit/reset the message centre number it'd be of great help.
Also, any other tentative issues that could be causing the problem that you might know of. Please let me know. I am a travelling guy and most of the contact i make with my world is through sms.
Eagerly waiting for a solution.
Cheers,
Shrinivas.

Okay a last question about that. Type *#*34363*#*#* and SMSC field is the only way to set up SMS message center number? Cause that does not work on my phone. Thanks for helping .
It depends, some Network Operators do not require you to enter SMS message center number (auto set once SIM Card is inserted).
The best option for you is to visit your Network Operator to let them sort out this issue for you (they should as you are their customer :smileywink:). Maybe you need to change to a new SIM Card?
Good luck.
FINALLY THIS ISSUES IS RESOLVED FOR ME....:smileyhappy:.
Get a new sim card and everything is done.
I Just went to the network operator nearby ( Vodafone )...And said the problem, even they couldnt spot or do anything in the beggining.
Then they gave a New Sim card (10 rupees) .. Then you know everything were just perfect...
Please do the same since I tried all the possibilities given ..and this worked perfectly for me...
This phone is cute and awesome ...
Have fun....
Cheers
Dinesh.
I have the same problem, but I found out how to resolve it.
*#*#4636#*#* then before editing the SMS center number, I click on refresh and I get : "+21698390003",144
where +21698390003 is my operator's sms-c number.
I changed the last paramater to have finally "+21698390003",145
(The 145 i get it from another working sim on the same phone, and for more info http://www.developershome.com/sms/cscaCommand.asp)
Now i can send sms.

Hello,
I have same problem and not only with sending but also with receiving sms. SMS arrive/send with a very big delay.
I changed and put my card into another phone (not android) and everything goes fine there! I put my husband's card into mine and xperia with his card trying now since hours to send me a 'test'...
(xperia x10 mini pro, 2.1 android version and go sms pro app).
I know 2 other people having same problem with same phone! I'm wondering if the problem comes from xperia or from android...
'Moderator', could you please help me with this issue?
Thank you !
do you have a LOT of SMS/MMS in your messaging app, if you do, backup everything, go to
settings -> privacy -> factory reset
Non, I don't have a lot of SMS I delete regularly and no MMS at all!
Thank you for your quick answer! Any other idea?
do you have the correct APN settings?
settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> access point names -> MENU -> add New
enter the info
MENU -> save
google: apn android settings name of your network
also if your SIM card it's too old it might not work with a smartphone
I don't understand what to do after 'add new'... What is the APN name?
Concerning the card, is new!
