Touchscreen does not response in random places.

Hallo everyone, recently I'm having a issue of non resopnsive touchscreen.Sometimes the touchscreen dosen't respond to touch or sweeps. It happens in different parts of the screen at different times.

As you can see the non-responsive section keeps changing everytime. But at lest one section will always remain unresponsive.

It's really annoyng while typing anything on the virtual keyboard as lot of taps are ignored.

I tried factory reset but that did not solve the problem then I tried to reinstall the firmware using SUS but that also didn't change anything

I'm currently on ICS. The problem started a few weeks after updating to ICS.

The phone is Unrooted stock. I also don't want to flash any firmware (Don't want to lose my warrenty)

Is this a hardware problem? Should I take it to the service centre? If it's a hardware problem why the non responsive section keeps changing?

you need to take your phone to a sony repair center it seems to be a hardware issue

I thought so too, but why the non responsive section changes everytime. All the other cases I've seen the non responsive section stays the same.

you should take it to a Sony repair center then.

Took the phone to service center. They said touch panel needs to be changed. It'll take 8-10 days to the part to arrive. There ware also 2 other guys with xperia u and touch screen problem. Are all the Xperia U touch panels faulty or something?

i have problem like u, first issue - my xperia u got a point purple while capture in camera - service center said, this is about upgrade firmaware - actually stock Firmware 6.0.B.1.564 - service center upgrade into 6.0.B.3.184 - this is real problem right now the camera its fine and no problem afterall - within 1 weeks my touchscreen ( pad qwerty ) and test its like u, its about problem with my new firmware or hardware ??? service center said - let me upgrade into ics - why??? i heard ics its too slow and lagging - does anyone can help me??? i wanna still use Gingerbread 2.3.7 not ics 4.0.4
