Ok...
I have an Xperia Arc S (LT18i)
From the box it was on Android version 2.3.x, I'm not sure the exact version.
I came on this site and connected my phone and it stated that I could update the Android version to 4.0.4. So I did. I followed the instructions carefully and waited until everything completed successfully.
There were loads of changes, most of which I can work with or reconfigure. However, the one thing that has changed that I can't work around is a lot of the setting options have gone... That is the actual access to the settings... Not the actual settings themselves, but the access to the settings..
E.g, I have very limited App settings in different areas. And when I go to settings Apps, it takes me directly to the list of apps, rather than give me options in relation to the apps...
One particular option I can't find is how to stop the phone from making automatic shortcuts of new apps on the home screen...
These and other settings just aren't available anymore... I wouldn't be able to remember all the settings that I had..
Can someone help me retreive them?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Open the play store app > settings > you should be able to see the option
Hi
Thanks. I had found it anyway. But a couple of other settings and problems since the upgrade:
1. I can't find the lock screen settings.
2. I can't find the screen shot function. It used to be a option when I pressed the power button. But its not there and can't find it anywhere else.
1) Settings > security
2) press and hold power & volume down at the same time = screenshot
Great, thanks...
Now how about this setting.
When I select a function for default it says to clear the default go "settings-apps". But its not there...
E.g, I want to select a notification tone, it asks me to select from one of the options:
1. Sound Picker
2. Android Tones
3. Zedge
And has the "select as default" tick underneath..
If I want to clear this default, where do I go now?
Settings > apps > all > select the app > scroll down > clear defaults
Thanks again mate...
But it is hard to find the right app for the defaults I set to...
How can I determine the correct App? I have over 100 apps in that list.
The defaults I set are usually Android based, not a specific App. So there was no lable for the App that I can go by...
See my previous example. When wanting to select a tone for notifications, there were options on what area I could use to select the tone. And that is where I applied the default.
Is there any trick on how to find the right app in the apps list? There are still loads of Android system apps.
I think it'll be easier if you perform a factory reset
