In the latest SW before the now active (4.0.2.A.0.42/downloaded today) one strange problem has occured several times;

After releasing a call the screen becomes black!

The only way to have the screen back is to do a power reset by release the battery/reboot OR connect external power to the phone.

Sometimes the screen appear after 15 s (1 of 10 times)

When the screen becomes black the white leds beside the Home/Menu button is on until anything of the actions above are performed...

Is this a known problem and can I expect better performance in this new SW release 4.0.2.A.0.42??

The problem has been shown both with Bluetooth (SonyEricsson original) and without...

Quick answer: update again. I updated 2 Xperia arc for co-workers today, and one of them can't survive without making at least a few calls each day, and she hasn't come back yell at me yet!

Try it with a different operator SIM, just in case, if that doesn't work.

Have same problem with my phone.

SE Xperia Arc S (4.0.2.A.0.42). Updated at last of October.

Screen start freezing on call from November 14 only if call was long and outside. Additionally, outside temperature was down to -5 -10 degrees Celcius from November 14.

I removed my call recording software, but problem is exist.

I didn't reupdate SW yet, want to wait when check dependency freezing sensor from low temperature.

UPDATE.

Just tested proximity sensor. I colded my phone about 5 minutes outside. After start testing data from it. All time sensor show that something near it, thought nothing wasn't nearer 10cm to it.

Later I'll cleap up phone, then reupdate using SEUS.

I'll post results here after new tests.

I have the same problem.I've updated it once but didn't help.Please let me know if you find solution.It's very annoying:(

if you already did a software update and you have the same problem you might have to return it

Not yet.

Wait when I can reupdate SW. Need additional time to backup data from phone.

It will be possible at evening today.

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone
