Problem with screen 2 days after purchase

I purchased a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray two weeks ago while visiting Germany (reason being my other phone broke). Firstly, from the start, the charger cable was not working, however that is not such a big problem since I have other similar cables. Furthermore, two days after using the phone, a vertical blue line appeared across the screen. The line is one pixel wide and runs vertically across the whole screen when the screen is turned on (it's as if that specific line of pixels has a bad connection). When I took it to the seller (Saturn), they said that they would have to send it to Sony for repairs and it would take two weeks minimum. This unfortunately was not an option as I had to return to my home country (Namibia, Africa) in less than two weeks. It seems however that there is little support for Sony in my home country, how should I go about trying to solve this problem. I have not dropped the phone or damaged it in any way, therefore it is probably a problem from the factory and therefore a warranty job. Is this the right place to post such a question?

Sorry to hear about this problem.

The phone must be repaired on the market it was sold since we do not offer world wide warranty. If you are leaving for home before this can be arranged you might want to make a deal with the service center or dealer for them to ship the phone to you when repaired.

Either way, I recommend you call the German Sony Mobile support office and see what they say about this. They might have a process in place for cases like this or they might be able to help you setting one up or at least giving you some good advice on how to proceed.

Thank you Markus for your advice, I expected there might be some problems with warrenty if I were to try and claim here in Africa. Thanks for the phone number, I think calling German Sony Mobile directly will be the best approach.
