Problem in updating

Hi

I have updated my Xperia S to 6.2.B.0.211 before by PC Companion before without no problems. But now when I want to update to 6.2.B.1.96 an error occur which wants me to download Sony Ericsson Update Engine.

I have downloaded Sony Ericsson Update Engine and problem fixed but the updating progress stops at preparing level and do not finish.

I have tried two times and second time I have waited about 3 hours and it didn't work.

How can I solve this problem?

You could try reinstalling PC Companion and see if that helps but if not, try using Update Service instead: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update%20service/.

I got same problems, "prepare" takes for hours, dont know why, internet conection is ok, USB ok ...

I reinstalling PC Companion same thing again, please help !

I have tried update service and let my phone connect to PC and PC download the software for 6 hours (from night to morning) but that fails too.

My phone's battery was dead during update while only 50 MB / 500 MB of update was downloaded ( I plug my phone to PC while it has up to 93% charge). After disconnecting my phone, it didn't turn on even after I plugged in to charger. I was totally freaked out. Charger was plugged in to phone about 15 minutes and after than phone starts to charging and my phone turns on.

I think the problem is connecting to server of Sony. It takes to many time, More than usual. Because the internet speed while I am in the net is many times more than downloading speed of software update from Sony software.

Downloading was stopped at 50 MB but when I have checked the traffic that was used I did figure out that about 550 MB was downloaded during update.

I am really confused and don't know what to do. Is there any way to download software update separately and then install that?

I am also facing the same issue.Initially updated through SUS as update through PC Companion did not work.Although it mentioned that 6.2.B.1.96 is available, after detecion when it entered the download/checking phone option, got a message in a new window that no new software update is svailable for your device.So switched to SUS which downloaded and while installing chose install with factory data reset , but although it installed the update, it did not do a factory reset and contents of internal storage was available as it is..Since my issue with the phone was horrible battery backup of only 8-10 hrs without doing anything, i suspected an issue with installation, so tried reinstalling through SUS and PC Companion..Repair my phone option through PC Companion gives the same error message (no update available for your phone) and SUS says your device is already running on latest software, and it does not give an option to resinstall..Is there any way, i can reinstall the update as both PC Companion and SUS is not allowing it..pls help

This does indeed sound like a connection problem between your internet service provider and our server. Would it be possible for you to try this using another internet connection?

It sounds like the software you now have in your phone doesn't match anything on our server. I suggest you contact a service location regarding this problem.

Is there any way to download software upload without SUS. Like a file witch we can use download managers and after that install the update?

That sounds quite strange because since purchasing the phone, i had done 3-4 upgrades so far, but all throgh only SUS or PC Companion..Never downloaded any other ROMs or flashed the device using such downloads..Since SUS downloaded and installed 6.2.B.1.96 initially, it means your servers detected that the phone needed this update, downloaded it and installed it..And when I try to re-install, both PC Companion and SUS says device is with latest software,this again means the update server recognises what is installed in the phone..Only issue is why is not allowing a re-install ..Tried after re-installing PC Companion and SUS, no luck...

It's not possible to download the update file without SUS or PCC and the phone needs to be connected in order for the correct firmware to be downloaded. If possible, try another internet service provider and see if it works.

I can't see anything wrong in your screenshot so it's strange that no software is found.

Try another computer and see if it works but if not i would recommend that you ask a service location to reinstall the phones software and customization.
