Hi,
I have just bought a 32Gb SD Card for my arc. I have been trying desperately for days to get my contents of my old 8Gb card onto the new one, but without any luck.
Basically, I can spend hours transferring the 4 or 5 Gb of data I have onto the new memory card via file transfer, but when i put it into the phone, it says "preparing SD Card..." and then when i look at it, everything is gone except for a few system-looking files.
I have formatted to FAT32 as suggested by customer support. I have put it all on fresh, copying it directly onto the new card from the old one.
i am at the end of my tether! I know that the SD card is fine because it keeps all of my information between computers. It just will not keep it on the phone...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Martin

yeah that seems like a faulty SD card, can you exchange it?
why don't you put then new SD card on your phone, then mount it to your computer, and then transfer everything
I have tried doing that, but still everything disappears. All photos, videos, apps...
Basically, i have the old card in my SD card reader on my laptop, and my new card in the phone, connected to the laptop..
I can copy all I like over to the new card, and it will show up fine until I unmount the phone, at which point it says "preparing SD Card" and then nothing is available again, and when I look, the card is all but empty.
try to do the same and then test it on another phone see if the same problem occurs, if it does then you have a faulty SD card
I haven't got any other phones to try it on. however, I am seeing another problem now in that anything I save to the new SD card - photos, etc. are unavailable when i restart the phone.
I am starting to think that you are right and I have been sold a faulty SD Card. What do you think?
unfortunately it was an eBay purchase, and as such I think I have just made a dodgy purchase that can't be reversed. Shame, because I was really looking forward to filling it with movies. 😐
you could keep trying to reformat and test it with another phone, maybe just maybe it might work
