My Xperia Arc screen locks and goes black when I'm making a call...

Hi

First time to post.  Driven to frustration by my phone locking itself and making screen black during phones call - can be outgoing or incoming.  The only fix is to remove the battery and restart phone.

Really annoying as you can't end call if you don't want to leave a voice mail and also really embarrassing if you've called wrong number etc!

Taken it back to Carphone Warehouse (where I bought it from just over a year ago) and they were useless, wanted to send it away for repair.  Suggested I upgraded software - it's completely up to date.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks very much

Vicky

Most probably it has lived its life Slightly_frowning_Face Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

Unfortunately service center is the option left for you

Before going try this--

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (contacts, sms, apps)

Update/Repair your phone via PCC OR SUS

PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).

Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

PC Companion http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

Feels issue with the proximity sensor....

Make sure any case , screen protector is not interfering with the proximity sensor

Dial *#*#7378423#*#* in dialer > service tests > proximity sensor > it must  be off.... touch proximity sensor and it must show on

do it several times... post the result

Hi there

Thank you so much for your prompt response.

When I select Proximity Sensor it says 'this device does not support this function' ??

Proximity Switch says 'on', I have no option to turn it off.

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm having the same issue as of recent. I've tried the solution you gave me, i.e. turned on/off the proximity switch. It goes from on to off, and stays at off. What should I do next?
