Mp4 and mkv movies

Why won't most of my mp4 movies play on my xperia sp? I have tried converting them to 720. They all play on PC. I am using MX player. Thanks

I tried reformatting but still had the same problem. However when I realised that the movies would play on the phones internal memory that made me look more closely at the sd card. I ran the program h2testw which proved that my 32gb class 10 card was in fact an 8gb class 6 fake. It appears as though most cards sold on ebay, and the like, are fake.. I since bought a 32gb sandisk card from a reputable supplier, tested using h2testw, which plays all the films without conversion..The hours I could have saved but for a couple of pounds..

Hi @birdsunlimited

Please ,from your Home screen let´s try the following:

1. Tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings -> Apps.
3. Swipe to the All tab.
4. Find and tap on MX player app
5. Tap Force stop -> Clear data.
6. Restart the phone.
Does this also happens if you play these videos with the native video player app of your device ?

@birdsunlimited

Transfer them with either PCC or better yet, Media Go

Thanks for both suggestions but neither worked. When using MediaGo I end up with movies that apparently are typically 8 hours long that still don't play. When played all I get is a clicking noise and no picture same as when I converted them to mkv for instance. Any other ideas would be appreciated..

However.... on further investigation it appears as though the movies will work without any conversionso long as they are in the internal memory as opposed to the sd card. So my question now is why can I play them on internal memory but not sd card and is this the same for everyone else?

@birdsunlimited

Test a different SD card, it might be corrupted.

Hi @birdsunlimited

I suggest you first run a backup of your SD card information and then try to format it with your computer. After doing this, mount the SD in your device again and check if problem persists. Keep us updated please.
