MHL compatibility with DLC-mb10

I hav a doubt on whether to purchase sony dlc mb10 mhl cable for xperia sp used for screen mirroring on all hdmi capable TV.
Is it compatible with all hdmi tv or only for mhl supporting TV?. My sony bravia TV is 6 year old nd i guess its not mhl supportive but 1 hdmi port.. I need help onto which type mhl cable i hav to buy for screen mirroring on my tv.
Also want to kno will google chromecast works with our device as i read chromecast screen mirroring support are only android 4.4 nd above.

Saw many 3rd party mhl adapters online.. Which one is best for xperia sp?..

Sorry to hear that you've been unable to find it in your country Slightly_frowning_Face

Perhaps your local support team can help you?

The cables you've seen with a microUSB for charging are probably MHL to HDMI-adapters, not MHL-cables.

When looking at 3:rd party MHL-adapters you may find both 5-pin and 11-pin adapters. You need a 5-pin for your phone.

But please note that we can't guarantee the functionality and compatibility of 3:rd party products.

If your TV doesn't support MHL you can not use that cable. You need a MHL to HDMI-adapter such as IM750.

You will not be able to cast your screen to Chromecast. To to it wirelessly you need a Miracast-adapter.

I have no experience with 3:rd party MHL-adapters but if you want to buy a 3:rd party adapter, make sure it's 5-pin.

Thanks for the quick reply.. Been searching for IM750 everywer.. Not available on Sony Centers.. Not even available so far on online sites..5pin 3rd party adapters available but doesnt look lik good quality. Anyway.. Thanks for letting me kno abt dlc mb10,othrwise i ws goin to order it.. Also seen mhl cables with separate usb charging port nd micro mobile port along with hdmi.. Do u tink it wil work without mhl compatible tv? Asked cos dlc mb10 doesnt hav separate charging out cable. And ads on online sites abt 3rd party mhl cables say it mirroring on all hdmi tv. I tink i need mhl hdmi adapter for sure nd no use by mhl cable alone..
Thanks Rickard

Ok.. Thanks. There is som 5 pin mhl to hdmi with usb charging cables available locally but of very low quality. can u suggest any miracast adapter? Is it because of 4.3 chromecast not supported for screen cast? My cousin has xperia Z1 with 4.4 nd also asked abt chromecast.
Btw main use wil be to play cartoon videos on tv for my nephews. Since my tv is bit old, will 1080p videos play fine on my tv? Or need to convert to 720p wen played thru mhl?
Got ps3 controller also, it wil b nice to play couple of games on tv if screen mirroring works. Will check some of those mhl cables first nd then if u suggest a miracast adapter not very pricey, i can check its availability..

I totally understand now..did lot of research on mhl and miracast.. I got to find either IM750 mhl adapter or any othr adapters or any miracast adapter. Novasys miracast with wifi direct is available.. Will see to it..
Thanks for the help here..

I've only used Miracast with TVs that has builtin support for it. I have seen posts here on the forum saying Netgear has a Miracast-adapter that will work.

But please note that Xperia SP can't do WiFi and Miracast at the same time. In case you need WiFi, get an MHL-adapter instead.

Regarding resolution, when you use MHL and Miracast it's the phone that plays the video, not the TV so it should not be any issue.

Both netgear and belkin adapters not available nd also pricey.. At that price i could buy smartband swr10.. Novasys tvfi miracast adapter seems to hav good reviews in online sites here.. Got to check it out. Looking for local mhl adapters also..
Btw iam asking 1 more doubt here without starting new post.

How much usefulness does smartband swr10 could bring with android 4.3 in our device?? Without lifelog app can we use functions lik vibrate during calls, sms, notifications, alarm, vibrate when away frm phone etc.. And is their any alternative app for lifelog in 4.3 which can be used with smartband??

To use SWR10 you need Android 4.4 or later i'm afraid. SWR10 will not work without its app and the app requires at least Android 4.4.
