Hi All,
My Xperia S updated this afternoon to the latest Jelly Bean 4.1.2. I just wondered how I can turn off my running apps now? Previously, you just long pressed the home key and slid them to close. When I long press the home key now, I just get the white page for a google search, this was at first Google Now, but I don't want this, so I turned it off. To help conserve battery life, please can someone help me out?
Is there anything else I should know about this update?
Many thanks,
David
Solved! Go to Solution.
Single tap = take you back to home
double tap = task manager
long press = Google Now
Thanks Uliwooly, you're a star!
Nice of Sony to tell us about these changes, eh?
Has anything else changed?
This is the change log
For camera, we’ve…
addressed an abnormality in the white balance
improved the “Quick Launch” button functionality
smoothed out (1080p) video recording, minimizing lag
For apps, services & data, we’ve…
streamlined Exchange Active Sync, particularly when running an encrypted set-up
boosted connection stability for 2G network data
ensured preferences on 3rd party apps remain after reboot – not a common problem, but we understand it can be a frustrating one!
For battery, we’ve…
economised power consumption, and heat dispersion for longer life
corrected juice level notifications, especially when running low
And for hardware & UI, we’ve…
introduced a home key long-press to launch Google Now, and a double-press to launch Recent Apps
made sure the volume “up” button is fully responsive
OMG. Thanks for letting us decide... I've spent 2 hours reading forums (also in spanish forums). Several people reported this, without any solution. Can't believe this silly thing driving us crazy... no advices, no option to desactivate, nothing. Maybe the next few years we have to ask google if I can go to sleep...
Thanks uliwooly!
lol
Plz HELP !

browsing is okay on Chrome but all the apps didnt work ..... only work on WIFI
i have tried to reinstall the update , also Factory Reset
Go to Settings - Xperia - then tap on Internet Settings when asked or prompted choose yes this will download your mobile internet settings - If that fails to work then it would possibly be an issue with your network provider
