Hi friend, no need to lose your messages. As you know, you can backup your contacts to the SD card going through the contacts and exporting them. Now regarding uninstalling apps...when you open the menu screen, on the right hand bottom corner, you have the shortcut to rearrange. Click on it...anything you can uninstall will have a red X on it. Click it and it will be uninstalled. Now...if this doesnt work, u have an app available on the market to backup sms in xml format to the SD card. Try it...one of the above should work.

you can repair it with Update Service or PC Companion, but that will delete EVERYTHING including contacts (pictures, videos, etc stored on your SD card will be fine)

you can try to turn off/on your phone and go to the settings -> applications -> manage applications and delete some

or if you can install taskiller

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tni.TasKiller&feature=search_result

kill everything then try to uninstall some apps

Low memory is the main reason I moved away from the X10 Mini Pro. I have an X11 one atm. If you have enough memory to download app to sd you can move apps to the SD card.

I hate to say it, but I would have to advise that you run the update again or a repair via PC Companion to resolve this as it appears the firmware id load correctly.

You really need to perform software update...You can do it via the PC Companion on ur own. However, i would suggest taking the phone to a service center. I am suggesting service center because when i did a software update of my own, i had a similar problem a few days later. Not the settings but the entire homescreen wouldn't come up. Similar error message saying some android component failed. It hardly takes 20 min for the service center.
