Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

Update June 5th 2012: I ended up using Enhanced Email (http://enhancedemail.net/viewforum.php?f=34), which actually is much nicer than the stock email client, and works like a charm with my Exchange and IMAP servers, and nicely integrates into the Android Calendar and Contacts. For $9.99, in Google or Amazon store, I recommend this as a satisfactory solution!

Update June 1st 2012: This issue is NOT resolved. Upgrading to 4.0.4 did not solve this issue (for me).

Update May 5th 2012: This issue is NOT resolved, and still bugging multiple clients. A "Repair phone" (ie. reinstall ICS via Sony PC Companion) action did NOT resolve this issue!

Happily upgraded my Sony-Ericsson Arc S to Android 4.0.3 yesterday.

But:

When using the stock email/calendar/contacts client 4.0.1 to connect to my corporate Exchange account (Office 365), I get stuck after a succesful account set-up, during sychonization. Exchange Services is vesion 4.1.

The email client hangs on "Waiting for sync / Syncing" endlessly, despite all my attempts

Symptoms:

- Account set-up correctly, as the Exchange server reports a succesful phone connection, but no succesful sync completion

- Another account, with IMAP, works flawlessly

- Using RoadSync 3rd party client also works flawlessly

- Accepted security policy from Exchange server

- Enabled auto-synchronization for the Corporate account, for Calendar, Contacts, and Email. "Sync now" gives _no_ error.

Welcome any help! (just don't tell me to reset my phone)

David

Upgraded yesterday from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 and Exchange sync worked for one day. Today morning again can't get connection to server and thats it. So have to downgrade again back to 2.3.4, this atleast is working.

Hi Johan,

Updated my Xperia Arc S from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 thru PCC. but the problem for E Mail is still the same.... after configuring the active sync mail its still showing "Waiting for Sync.... Syncing" as it was earlier with 4.0.3.

there are two ways

1) take your phone to a sony service center

or

2) use flashtool or wotanserver

Hi all,

Confirmed that Xperia Arc S and Ray have the same problem "Waiting for Sync" after upgrading to 4.0.4.

I have no choice but just stop and disable the Email and Exchange Client (thanks ICS), and then I install the third party Touchdown, it works perfectly.

Nothing much I can say but extremely disappointed on Sony. Are they tried any Exchange 2010 on their phone?

One more information, Office365 is working fine on 4.0.4.

Just want to share my experience again, if the Exchange Server Policy of email message size is reset to unlimit, the Sony Active Sync is now working.

Hi Guys,

I am working for PHILIPS INDIA, BANGALORE. I am also facing same issue as given in forum. It hangs or keep rotating icon infinite times.

I am using third party Touch Smartphone and that is working well. Bug is there in sonay arc s email client.

My office is using Exchange 2010 . Sony engineers please check touch smartphone application and try to add some more missing authentication and functionality and that should fix this bug.

I have upated to android 4.0.4

Hi all,

Just to share my recent experience. I upgraded my Xperia Arc S to 4.0.4 and I cleared all the app (Email app) data. Opened the Email app, and started from there insteaded of adding a new account from settings.

I added my Exchange account details, it took a bit of time (10-15 seconds) but now syncronization is working just fine with exchange server.

I don't know whether it is workable work arround or I'm just lucky!
