Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

Update June 5th 2012: I ended up using Enhanced Email (http://enhancedemail.net/viewforum.php?f=34), which actually is much nicer than the stock email client, and works like a charm with my Exchange and IMAP servers, and nicely integrates into the Android Calendar and Contacts. For $9.99, in Google or Amazon store, I recommend this as a satisfactory solution!

Update June 1st 2012: This issue is NOT resolved. Upgrading to 4.0.4 did not solve this issue (for me).

Update May 5th 2012: This issue is NOT resolved, and still bugging multiple clients. A "Repair phone" (ie. reinstall ICS via Sony PC Companion) action did NOT resolve this issue!

Happily upgraded my Sony-Ericsson Arc S to Android 4.0.3 yesterday.

But:

When using the stock email/calendar/contacts client 4.0.1 to connect to my corporate Exchange account (Office 365), I get stuck after a succesful account set-up, during sychonization. Exchange Services is vesion 4.1.

The email client hangs on "Waiting for sync / Syncing" endlessly, despite all my attempts

Symptoms:

- Account set-up correctly, as the Exchange server reports a succesful phone connection, but no succesful sync completion

- Another account, with IMAP, works flawlessly

- Using RoadSync 3rd party client also works flawlessly

- Accepted security policy from Exchange server

- Enabled auto-synchronization for the Corporate account, for Calendar, Contacts, and Email. "Sync now" gives _no_ error.

Welcome any help! (just don't tell me to reset my phone)

David

@Rock33: Good for you!

1) Recommend to start your GPS issue in another thread (if not already started). Not here.

2) What version of email and exchange services do you have now (under Apps/All).

3) Did you upgrade without data loss, or a full repair phone?

Seems we have different issues, as my problem remains Slightly_frowning_Face

Hi David,

Thanks!  Happy to finally have Exchange working again.

2.)  V4.1

3.) Upgraded w/o data loss

While I was trying to get EAS working a couple weeks ago, I reset everything on the exchange server & removed all former associations.  Not sure if that was significant or not.

Also, when I upgraded, I deleted Exchange account off mobile and then built from scratch using manual settings.

Good luck!

Still not working.

I applied the latest update but sill the dreaded "waiting for sync" screen.

Sony - Kindly show seriousness and resolve to fix this once for all. This half-hearted approach will only drive the corporate customers away.

Hi,

I've been using Galaxy nexus and its standard client for email to sync with Exchange, and I never had any issue! I just got my very first Xperia device (arc S) and I must say this is disappointing that I can't get my company emails :smileysad:, can you give any time estimate for the next update?

Thanks

I ended up giving Enhanced Email a try:

So far so good, works like a charm with my Exchange and IMAP servers, and nicely integrates into the Android Calendar and Contacts.

Hi All,

I like the Xperia Arc S, but with this issue, it become unusable for me! Can any body tell me that this bug is also comes with Xperia S? (Assuming it will be having same mail client)

I don't want to use any third party apps to get my exchange mails, I'll switch to some other brand if this is a common problem with all Xperia ics phones.

Any help will be much appriciated.

Thanks.

Thank you all for your comments. See my updates at the top, esp. about the 3rd-party app workaround that is satisfying for me. Be sure to "Like" the initial/top post Slightly_smiling_Face

While I agree that the stock email should have worked out of the box, if this is business critical to you, a few dollars for a 3rd party app that actually is very nice should be justifyable.... Winking_Face

Note that other 3rd email apps may work equally well -- I ended up liking Enhanced Email a lot, because it is so similar to the stock email, and offering a nicely integrated experience.

I too have the same issue with my new Xperia Ray (4.0.4).

My old Huawei with Android 2.2 works very well with the same configuration.

Kept the new one in the Box and started using the old phone.

Looking at the responses, I do not see that the people are serious to solve this issue.

Very much disappointed with Sony.
