Email 4.0.1 "Waiting for sync" on corporate Exchange/Activesync

Update June 5th 2012: I ended up using Enhanced Email (http://enhancedemail.net/viewforum.php?f=34), which actually is much nicer than the stock email client, and works like a charm with my Exchange and IMAP servers, and nicely integrates into the Android Calendar and Contacts. For $9.99, in Google or Amazon store, I recommend this as a satisfactory solution!

Update June 1st 2012: This issue is NOT resolved. Upgrading to 4.0.4 did not solve this issue (for me).

Update May 5th 2012: This issue is NOT resolved, and still bugging multiple clients. A "Repair phone" (ie. reinstall ICS via Sony PC Companion) action did NOT resolve this issue!

Happily upgraded my Sony-Ericsson Arc S to Android 4.0.3 yesterday.

But:

When using the stock email/calendar/contacts client 4.0.1 to connect to my corporate Exchange account (Office 365), I get stuck after a succesful account set-up, during sychonization. Exchange Services is vesion 4.1.

The email client hangs on "Waiting for sync / Syncing" endlessly, despite all my attempts

Symptoms:

- Account set-up correctly, as the Exchange server reports a succesful phone connection, but no succesful sync completion

- Another account, with IMAP, works flawlessly

- Using RoadSync 3rd party client also works flawlessly

- Accepted security policy from Exchange server

- Enabled auto-synchronization for the Corporate account, for Calendar, Contacts, and Email. "Sync now" gives _no_ error.

Welcome any help! (just don't tell me to reset my phone)

David

Thank you for your support, Johan.

I am having our enforced policies checked against the list of supported items that you shared.

However, given that I do get:

Access state:

Access Granted
Access set by: Global Permissions

My theory is that the problem lies deeper in the actual protocol implementation, in conjunction with hosted Exchange (office 365 and alike) Slightly_smiling_Face

The question is not answered! You guys need to solve this problem, not just stay and say: oh, I think this is what we didn't do!

If you guys are in serious need for Exchange connection try Enhanced Email from the Play Store.  I've been using it in lieu of the built in EAS client on my ST18a (Ray) since pre-gingerbread and the move to ICS was without incident.

The devel offers a free trial that might tide you over.

This was the first problem I noticed the very day I upgraded to ICS. I cannot access my work email anymore and practically make this phone useless to me.

I have used a trial version of touchdown since then, but the trial is going to end soon. Slightly_frowning_Face

Up to date, still no resolution from SONY? I don't want to waste extra money on 3rd party app for something that I can use before the ICS upgrade!

More info: My company has dedicated hosting with Microsoft under .d.outlook.com.

The shared hosting (Office365) is under m.outlook.com.

For this problem, that does not seems to matter, both give problems.

Note that the redirect problem (m.outlook.com to pod.outlook.com) and suggested answers on the web did not resolve this issue with me.

For me this comes down to an incompatibilty of the stock Android ICS Exchange Activesync Services 4.1 with hosted Microsoft Exchange servers...

Given that 3-rd party apps DO work with these servers, but are undesirable, my request remains to fix the software that comes with the Sony Android phone.

Thank you

I also have same problem!

I upgraded my phone Xperia Ray into ICS, but Exchange Email is not working, always show "Waiting for Sync..." but never end.

I called Sony Ericsson Hong Kong, but they said that they haven't received anything on this case, it is extremely disappointed. I have another Samsung Galaxy SII and it is working fine when upgraded to ICS, please let me know anything that we can do?

- Require a password - unchecked - results in all boxes being greyed out

Sync Settings

- Include past calendar items: Two Weeks

- Limit e-mail size to (KB) - unchecked & empty

- Require manual synchornization when roaming - unchecked

Any updates on the status?

Has anyone at SEMC been able to replicate this error.  If not, then my suggestion is to have them contact me and we can work through this together.

We really need to get this fixed!!  This is impacting my business.

I would advise you to use a 3rd party app like Touchdown like me, they are giving you a one month trial of the app.

"make.believe" that the issue will be resolved by then, but given that so much phones has not receive ICS updates yet (especially those 2012 Xperia phones). Happy waiting 😃
