Please do something about the dialer lag. It's really annoying now. Have tried everything but nothing seems to have fixed it. Sometimes when i pick up a call it still rings & vibarates. Also when opening the dialer takes an average 3-5 seconds sometimes even more. The worst is when i place a call it takes about a minute or two to place the call(most of the time). Please if someone could shed a light on this would be much appreciated. What annyos me is that the dialer on my brothers Xpeia Arc works smoothely Really Really Disappointed. Thanks in advace.

I've been struggling with this for a long time, too. I guess I finally have the solution! My dialer has become butter smooth.
First of all, use exDialer instead of stock, and make sure that in its settings the "Keep in memory" option is enabled and Hardware Acceleration is DISABLED. I also have Allow External Contact Viewer unticked.
Disabling hardware acceleration is what really made the huge difference for me. I guess hardware acceleration tries to make use of functionalities that actually cause the whole misery instead of speeding things up.
Make sure you finally reboot the phone with Volume Up + Power button to clear as much cache as possible. Hope this helps.
Bad lags in dialer too. Its startup time tends to go up if the phone is not rebooted for a long time. Scrolling the call log is never smooth, while the contacts list always scrolls fine. The general lagginess even shows while accepting calls when its even harder to tolerate.
I really hope that the announcement Sony's going to make this week will include a new firmware for Xperia P, and that it will fix this problem...
Bad luck. http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2013/11/07/on-jelly-bean-4-3-kit-kat-4-4
Seems like it's time to get a custom ROM or at least root.
Did you try clearing data in Settings? If not, try this. Back up your contacts (the process won't delete your contacts, but just be on the safer side), and your call log if you need it. Then go to Settings--Apps--All--Phone--Clear data. It will reset your settings for the Phone app. Reboot and then try dialing. If you have already done this, check how much free RAM you have. If it is less than 10% or so, try disabling background apps like task killers, live wallpapers and widgets. Do all apps perform slow or it is just the Phone app?
Just responding in case you haven’t solved this yet. One of the common causes is when a third party application that has its own calling function is not installed correctly and is conflicting with the built in dialer. Do you have any third party applications installed that offer a data calling function?

OMG Sam, have you ever been using Xperia P with Jelly Bean for more than one day?
At least for 1 week?
All of Xperia P users have problem with dialer lag, even that no using ANY third party app...
It's definitely a Firmware problem...
It seems to be OK, after Default Settings Restore but problem comes back after many calls.
I have the same problem.
The dialer app lag after update in JB (.100)
i have clear the cache and delete data --> no more gain.
Have you already try to use it in landscape (horizontal).
For me, there is no lag like this.
It is a bug firmware!
