Hi,
i got my new Xperia T LT30P for now about 6 weeks (i think) and i recognized that the matte coating of the phones back is peeling off at the edges. It didnt get any scratches and it didn't fall a single time. I made some pictures of the spots:
Is the coating of the Xperia T smartphones just of bad quality? It shouldn't be normal that it looks like that after just a couple of weeks!
Greetings
David

This must be a huge faulty batch - there are complaints from all over the world! I have asked Tesco to replace this thing with a proper (non-Android) phone - I don't trust any replacement coating to stay on for very long and in any case I feel swindled as the description doesn't match the goods. Possibly the worst thing is the quite disgraceful camera, but also there is a range of things that look pretty but are completely useless in practice, for example:
wi-fi direct which apparently you need to operate through another application, but even that doesn't work,
android beam - what's that all about?,
NFC - works with youtube links but nothing else. If you try to 'port' a photo or video it thinks it is an app and opens up google play.
Connectivity - it says that 'media content is published to the network', but the only way I have found of accessing this is through Windows media player, but it is so slow that it is quicker to take the memory card out and use a flash drive. If I try to access music that is on another device using the 'walkman' I can see the name of the device, but it always says 'please try again later'.
'screen mirroring'/Sony Facebook integration/PlayStation Certified - eh ????
Another major annoyance is that there doesn't seem to be any way of keeping the volume at a stable level - the volume button on the side is easy to press and I have missed lots of calls as a result, or if I am watching something on youtube and turn the volume up or down this also affects the ringtone volume.
etc., etc. - I've tried to apply them all in some useful way, but without success.
It is all round an awful, awful 'phone'. My wife's Galaxy SIII has similar features but they seem to work better, but still not perfectly. I have really tried to understand these features, but I have given up hope as nobody on this forum really knows and Orange just say 'nobody uses that' when I call their technical line - the peeling back cover is just the final straw.
Sent my phone to repair and got an answer that it will take up to 14 working days. I am considering selling handset as soon as i get it back, while it looks like new. Unless someone can confirm that paint isnt peeling from new back cover after 2-3 weeks? Thanks
Mine started peeling very soon after purchase as well, and I even used a case from the first day. Has anyone received their phone back from Sony? How was the repair handled, was it much hassle?
the first time I sent it off they didnt repair damage, just waiting for it to come back again 2nd atempt its in the post so hopefully will know what they did when I get it its not much hassle just phone sony repair and they will sort you out
Still, i'm not looking forward to weeks without phone, especially without a Sony promise of repair beforehand. Anyway, Cardav, thanks for the update! Please, keep us informed on how this is resolved.
phone back looks as good as new
That's good news! It will be interesting to see if this time it holds up. Did they replace the back of the phone or did you receive a refurbished one?
same imei so just the back was replaced.
Please keep us posted if the peeling happens again,I dont want to send myT off if it will just happen again.
Thanks.
Sony is fixing my phone now. They are waiting for parts which takes 2 weeks from now sadly. Good to see that the problem is being worked on
