Hi,
i got my new Xperia T LT30P for now about 6 weeks (i think) and i recognized that the matte coating of the phones back is peeling off at the edges. It didnt get any scratches and it didn't fall a single time. I made some pictures of the spots:
Is the coating of the Xperia T smartphones just of bad quality? It shouldn't be normal that it looks like that after just a couple of weeks!
Greetings
David
Solved! Go to Solution.
Right, I have my phone back, after seven weeks.
I say 'my phone' back, it's actually a brand new unit (why they couldn't give me a new one six and a half weeks ago I don't now, don't get me started...)
No problems so far, battery stamina good, camera superb, no crashes. It will remain to be seen if the batch this phone is from does not have a 'rub-off' finish.
I'll keep you all posted...
I sent my T for repair today. I'll keep you posted guys.
Is seven weeks the normal length of time for a repair on the cover on the back or were there other issues?
I really don't want to lose my T for nearly two months and then the same peeling happens again.
My phone is away for 3 weeks already, I contacted repair centre and they said that the part is ordered but suppliers are not sending it. They also said that when the part is sent it takes up to 14 working days to receive it. Best case scenario is 6 weeks. Told them this is not on and asked for the phone back until they gat that part. They agreed and said phone is on the way back. Will have to send it away again, but its better than waiting for some supplier to decide when the part should be sent.
I have purchased the Sony Xperia T and just after a month the matte coating of the phone's back is peeling off at the edges! Same problem that other users are experiencing.

The problem has been identified and a fix is in place. I suggest that you contact your local support team to have your phone fixed at an repair center. This will be covered within your warranty as long as you are within your warranty period and if no mechanical abuse is present.

I appreciate the fact that the problem has been identified, however I am from Malta, Europe , and we do not have a Sony repair centre in my country. What shall I do?
Hope you may help me because otherwise I'm very happy with this phone.
Thank you and best regards

I will get my phone back today or tomorrow. Repair took 1 month (with sending my phone to them and receiving it back). I sended it via Dynafix and the phone was at Teleplan (sony repair) for about 2 weeks.
For me there was no repair. The supplier simply replaced the phone completely. However the official fix from Sony is the whole back cover is replaced. This is the 'part' that they are waiting for. Presumably the coating on the replacement covers is properly applied/cured.
Perhaps in my case they decided I had waited long enough (seven weeks!) and took pity on me with a new phone!
My phone is back repaired under warranty! Good service
Bad news. The coating is peeling off on my new replacement phone.:smileycry:
Just noticed it this morning. That is basically just under two weeks of frankly very light use.
I'm going to think about whether I can be bothered to send it off again. I'm very cross.
I have been waiting on the results of what commentators have been saying above before I send it off - I have the bag to send it back to Tesco, but I would rather not be without a contract phone for 6 - 7 weeks. I have had this phone since November and I hardly ever use it, but it looks as though it has been through a lawnmower. Not only is it peeling on all corners and also around the camera lens, a nasty scratch has appeared on the screen and I have no idea at all how that happened. By contrast, my old N8 which I have had for three years and has been around the world and been run over by my car looks as good as new.
I just don't know what to do - I can't sell it as it is, and if I did get a replacement I wouldn't get much for it either as apparently it is no longer a 'flagship' phone and it has far too many documented quality issues - but if this was ever good enough to have been a flagship then I'm a banana.
What a con. I really feel swindled and I feel stupid for being duped into getting this thing.
