Chrome browser missing tabs after Lollipop upgrade

Chrome now hides the option to close a tab or jump to another one. Any fix?

Go to chrome settings - merge tabs off.

(Why should they change it? I guess some people didn't like it to default On.)

I have no idea,probably some new stuff they want to try out.

Chrome Tabs were moved after Lollipop to the Recent Apps screen (the 2 rectangulars soft button on the right). They will persist even if you restart your phone. You just switched off this feature and can get it back by turning tabs merge on again.
