Annoying Screen Flickering Issue in Xperia S on ICS 4.0.4

I am facing this annoying problem in my 15 days old Xperia S. The screen keep flickering and it is even worse than flickering, it just keep blinking when I open Album/Gallery and could not even give me chance to look at the photos. The same problem occurs when i open camera to take pictures and this camera due to this blinking screen issue made me feel embaraassing in front of my friends as this problem doesnot allow camera even to focus as it keep blinking every second. It makes me mad. The only solution which i follow right now is just to restart the phone and i have to do it on daily basis which is very painful as i do not want to do these frequent restart just to avoid any problem. So if anyone can help me with a solution.

FYI i have tried till now:

1. Software Upgrade

2. Software Repair

3. Phone restart on daily basis.

Whooaaaaaa..... It resolved now.. .. What a moment of relief..

Just uninstalled my McAfee Antivirus, and wallah everything was fine. Now no flickering no blinking. Now i can say that it is the best phone ever.. As the fault is of McAfee Mobile security App.

However it costed me US$ 40 to buy one year protection, But anyways i removed that in my 1st month of subscription. As i wanted my phone working smooth and fast.

I wonder if anyone from SONY look at these discussion threads, they are just looking for new customers as they got existing cutomer already trapped.

I Had a live chat, i dropped email to sony support, i opened discussion here and i have done everything possible. And these people are just seeming to be sitting and enjoying the problems faced by users.

Thanks for sharing friends, i thought i was alone, lets hope if Sony can provide some better solution for this apart from Software repair everytime when a problem is raised.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems. I'd suggest that you have your handset examined by an authorised service location so they can determine what is causing the problem for you.

Guys, please check out the thread below:

talk.sonymobile.com/thread/46495?start=0&tstart=0

There you'll find more shocking problems faced by us after ICS update.

Sony Moderator, you're not just going to sit there pretending there's nothing happening, are you?

PLEASE give some response in the thread I mentioned above.

Hi Aimee,

Thanks for reply, and i will take this to any service centre, but do you think if it would be any hardware problem then the display would have been blinking in every app and everytime.

It is just flickering in Album and Camera. So it is a software bug. However what i feel that it was a mistake from my side to switch on an Android device. Looking forward to get rid of it.

I never faced this on my Blackberry and will switch again to iOS, as Blackberry and iPhone combo works best for me.

Totally unsatisfied from this.

Thx

It is possible that the issue could be linked to software rather than hardware however as you have already tried repairing the software in the handset, I could only suggest that you have the handset examined so an engineer can determine what has caused the issue and provide a solution.

My guess is that it may be a bug; however, I would like to get my phone repaired, but I bought it in Spain and I live in Peru. Can I just leave it at a Sony shop? Will the warranty be valid?

Thanks in advance
