Xperia M dual speaker not working,(no ringtone, no audio and video output on speaker)

Hi Everyone,

I bought new Xperia M dual 4-5 days back, but i m facing problem related to speaker of the phone.

Whenever i play music file or video file no output from speaker. No ringtone when there is incoming call. I have already reset the phone to factory settings several times. For few hours it works, after some time again same problem is observed. Updated software also and repaired/ fixed, everything i have tried but still facing the same problem. One more thing, everything is working good on headphone.

Posting here for valuable suggestions.

Thanks ,

Strange! Experience the same behavior if you start the phone in safe mode?

You can try to connect and disconnect your headset while music is playing through the Walkman player.

Hi I have exactly the same problem with my Xperia M. Bought it in Oct 2013. It has happened twice earlier. Both those times got corrected on its own. Now it has been silent for 1 week. Am frustrated.

Strange. Mr Alexander advice is not very helpful at all. And more strangely, not only one or two person coincidenly experiencing this same problem.

Look at This Post, more people are also experiencing the same problem. Can't we just have a decent experience from a mid class phone from Sony Xperia. Or do we have to buy the high class (Xperia Z) to enjoy the full excitement experience? In that case, then I advice Sony to put a statement in their ads/poster saying "Buy only with caution, Phone Functions may stop working after few days of use". My speaker stopped working just after 1 week of use. Exact one week. Haven't bring it to service center because the so-called "SONY store" selling center in my place require me to go "Service Center" that is not near center of city. But that's not the problem. Problem is I will have to leave my phone for days (if not weeks) at the service center. And after reading THIS ANOTHER POST REGARDING DEFECTS, I am really not sure what to do now. So I'm stuck with a SONY PHONE that doesn't ring when receiving calls, and doesn't produce sounds when playing the Walkman APPS. Ironic, isn't it?

Same I brought my xperia M a month ago, it was all working great until I came back from a 7 day camping trip in witch my phone was switched off and left at home. When i came back yesterday i turn it on and no sound through the speakers. Even after updating the software and restarting hundreds of times. Total bs

LOL dont recommed it but after 3 hours of looking a forums and wondering how to fix this i accedently droped it on the floor( in its case) while music was trying to play through the speakers and as soon as it hit the floor the speakers cut in and are now working.

So i've had the same problem, sound from the speaker was totally out(ringtones, notif, alarms), i only played my music tru earphones for a while. Did the software update as advised by one of sony's rep, but haven't brought to any service center yet bec i lost my proof of purchase. Did all the advise from bloggers like plug in and out the headset, some wud even say shake the phone (Wth!) but nothing worked

Til one time, my phone fell on the floor and i remembered caphero's comment, i opened my music app and tried to play a music, Finally sound came back!!!!
I hate the fact that it had to be that way for the speaker to get fixed, i dont.think its a software.issue as some wud say.
might be a loose something inside i dnt know what it is, but after that accidental fall, sound came back and im now happy.

Those having the same prob, u r stupid f you will drop ur phone intentionally hoping that it would solve the prob. Go get some help from professionals. Again, this fall was just an ACcident. If the sound problem would reoccur i'll give an update, but i'd rather take it to their service center than try fix.it on my own.

Problem completely solved!!

I was having exactly the same problem! I bought my Xperia(M) last year. since its been working pretty well. But today morning all-on-a-sudden external speakers stopped working! Though I was able to talk as the internal speakers were well working. I tried to play musics from Walkman, MX Player, power Amp but as everybody's complaining there was no ringtone, no audio and video output on speaker. I tried out safe mode but It still the same! No **bleep**in' sound!!
finally (or co-incidentally) i found the solution..... here are the steps you're gonna have to follow to get your speaker's output back>>
1> play a song from walkman
2> make sure that at highest volume no sound is coming out from speaker
3> look..... there's a very small hole at the very right bottom of phone screen
4> now take a ball pen or a needle (ball pen is more preferable) and put that into the tiny hole
5> push the ball pen vertically downwards untill sound comes out from speaker!!!
6> while pushing(approx. 2 seconds) you will see that your dead speaker's just got magically alive!!
