sim status
new to phone and i may be missing something, I have a sim card in but my L3 says no sim card-no service, I know the sim card good as it works in my old phone and yes even had a new sim card and just the same works in the old phone not the L3.

Is this a new device or second hand?
Did the SIM card (or any SIM card) worked with this phone at any point?

it a new device, only tried 2 sim cards to date and both works in an old phone this phone says no sim card-no service.

Time for searching a cause.
What happens if you take out the SD card?
What happens if you take out the SD card and go into safe mode?
What happens if you leave the SD card out and goto settings->type 'reset'-> find reset network settings and reset network settings?
Other option: open the Support app, contact Sony support and ask.
The Support app also has the possibility to test your SIM card, but I guess the outcome of that test will be negative.
