Hi.
I have a problem with my xperia L. Device memory gets full with normal usage after a couple of weeks. After it gets full, the phone is almost impossible to use; album doesn't work, new updates will not install, phone resets itself, cannot install new programs.. ETC. The only way out is, in my opinion, to make a "factory reset". But this is not how it should go with a mobile phone..
I am completely sure that this is somekind of a software bug, because my work mate is having exactly same symptoms with his phone and some other users have complained this in this forum with other words. For example:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/140571
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/144006
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/141173
Somebody explained that this is because the album app is somehow broken, other explanation would be that the phone doesn't know how to refresh the temp files...
Now I have some questions for Sony:
1. Do you recognize this problem?
2. How are you going to tackle it and what is the schedule?
3. Also, when tackling this problem, will you repair the camera software too?
Then, I would like to know if there are other users having the same problem.. By the way, the system version is 15.0.A.1.31
I want to think that Sony is working on this, but they should say something to reassure their customers. Silence should not be the way of proceded of a great company like Sony is supposed to be.
Glad to see so many stepping out to point out the fatality of the problem. I'm going to contact consumer advisors if the problem isn't fixed when I'll get my phone back. I find it unacceptable to keep customer waiting for months to get a working phone and giving no change for refund.
I've spent hours now looking for possible fixes and in on forum somebody says that the problem was resolved through an upgrade of the build. Here's the link to update the firmware.

I don't have windows in my computer, but I will find a way to try this tomorrow. I'll post the results here.

There are users who have already updated to version 15.0.A.2.17 and it seems that this doesn´t solve the problem.
To perform the update that is described in your link you need to be root, and that makes you lose the warranty. I think it isn´t the time to take risks. The solution must come directly from Sony.
I got utterly fed up with this issue and rooted the phone. Previously, with around 6 of my own apps installed, I only had around 50MB free space on the Device. Used RootAppDelete and got rid of all the Sony/Google nonsense that comes pre-installed, and installed the same apps I had before from the Play Store. 266MB used looks a lot better.
Really annoyed that I've had to root to enable me to use the phone the way I should have been able to out the box. I "may" have invalidated my warranty by doing it, but being honest, the improvements outweigh the risk in my opinion.
If anyone else is thinking of rooting, I would advise that my Wi-Fi is no longer working! It won't turn on, but I think this is an issue with the kernel image I used, I will need to investigate this further at a later date, however I have unlimited mobile data so I'm not going to get annoyed about it if I can't fix it!
Hopefully Sony will get an answer for the rest of you guys...
Another week, another factory resets...
I did send my phone details as Sony representative Johan ask us to do.
Haven't heard anything from him or someone else.
I'm in IT business and know that things can go wrong and software problems/bugs shows up now and then even though you are testing.
You analyze it, make a plan for the solution and most important,
KEEP THE USERS/CUSTOMERS INFORMED!
SONY - What happens?

Has anyone else tried the repair suggested by Sony when you send in your phone details as per a previous page? I did this a couple if days ago and things seem to be better, but I accept its only a couple of days! They close the call after 5 days, which is fine if things remain ok, but in the past the memory has been swallowed up over the course of a week or so. I still have 733MB free and have installed most of the apps I use, including spotify (+ music to the. SD card). Can anyone let me know how they've got on. I'll keep you all posted on how my phone performs.
Dave,
If you mean the "repair" who is done with the PC software, I did it with Sony Update Service program, and didn´t work.
I have now upraded my phone from C2104 to C2105 with build # 15.0.A.17.
I am still getting the same problems as before. But here is the interesting part.
Like I said before, I have this flashcard system on my phone called AnkiDroid.
I am learning Japanese and Chinese. My Japanese deck is only text while my Chinese deck contains text and audio.
Every time I study a card from the Chinese deck, my memory goes down by 20-25MB. This happens for each card. It does not happen when I study cards from the Japanese deck. The deck size(and not the size of the card) is 30MB at most.
If you are still following me, the only difference between the two decks is that one has audio. The one with the audio is messing things up. My conjecture would be that this problem with the memory is related to how xperia deals with audio files.
What do you guys think?
