Device memory full in xperia L

Hi.

I have a problem with my xperia L. Device memory gets full with normal usage after a couple of weeks. After it gets full, the phone is almost impossible to use; album doesn't work, new updates will not install, phone resets itself, cannot install new programs.. ETC. The only way out is, in my opinion, to make a "factory reset". But this is not how it should go with a mobile phone..

I am completely sure that this is somekind of a software bug, because my work mate is having exactly same symptoms with his phone and some other users have complained this in this forum with other words. For example:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/140571

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/144006

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/141173

Somebody explained that this is because the album app is somehow broken, other explanation would be that the phone doesn't know how to refresh the temp files...

Now I have some questions for Sony:

1. Do you recognize this problem?

2. How are you going to tackle it and what is the schedule?

3. Also, when tackling this problem, will you repair the camera software too?

Then, I would like to know if there are other users having the same problem.. By the way, the system version is 15.0.A.1.31

Yes it's the 'photos and videos' widget, it is creating a load of thumbnail files. So far in my testing it is one of the cause for abnormal increase in memory.

You can view the cache files generated by it in
INTERNAL MEMORY-> DCIM->THUMBNAILS.
Also check in DEVICE memory, use any file explorer to view hidden files and delete all those files. They are continually being generated by this widget.

Guys, I've found that even the new firmware update isn't helping to solve the issue. In my case, the memory started to leak after 2 weeks. So now I am back to square one. Don't know what Sony is upto in this case. It's been almost 3 months and people are still trying to figure out.

Swaminathan: Have you checked that memory leak has completely stopped in your case?

hi Pavanj

Thanks swaminathan. I have followed the steps given by you..did factory reset today. Is it compulsory to disable-enable 'media storage'??

To be safe I wouldn't use walkman/album/movies app of Sony. I think those apps are eating lot of cache. I am using rocket player/quick pic/mx player as an alternative.

Hope this issue gets solved soon!

@Pavanj
first use inbuilt apps like movies, album and walkman.
to clear the cache, just open settings>Apps,wait for few seconds, you will See, the device memory will increase by clearing the cache by itself.

@pavanj, I Dont know 'disable and enable' media storage is necessary.. I followed what is told by another user.. one thing is sure.. when i used app cache cleaners like app to sd pro, the memory starts decreasing.. so I advice you to use the step said above to clear the cache..
