Hi Guys,
Bought the HT-ZF9 soundbar last year along with 65inch Sony 4K smart tv. I read some great reviews about the rear speakers for the soundbar (SA-Z9R). Just purchased these and can’t for the life of me get them to work. It says they are connected and the green light is solid at the back of them. The tone test work fines but that’s the only noise I can get. I have tried Netflix, YouTube, and sky and nothing.
I have reset the system twice to no avail. I’m guessing it’s probably something simple!
Any help much appreciated
Thanks,
Paddy
Hi Paddy,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
I'm looking into this and will update the thread when I have an answer.
Best wishes,
Sean
Thanks a million, Sean.
Hi Paddyh79
I found some troubleshooting steps on page 73 of the Manual about this issue: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4727/d1ff451e44dc39fc895aec29e654d9a6/47275332M...
Could you give these a go and share the results with us?
Cheers,
Rose
Hi Rose,
Thanks a mill for your note. I have tried all these and still nothing. I also tried Spotify from my phone through Bluetooth and again sound works fine on soundbar and sub but rear speakers remain silent.
Thanks again for your help
Paddy
Hi Paddy,
I'd say try resetting the system completely then. The steps are on page 78 of the same Manual.
Cheers,
Rose
Hi Rose,
Tried that again but no joy. Would the quality of the hdmi cable from the sound bar to the tv be affecting it I wonder? Would a high speed cable be a better option then a standard one?
Thanks for your help,
Paddy
Hi Paddy,
It's always recommended to try a high speed cable.
Thanks,
Rose
Hi Paddy,
i have noticed that the rear speakers works well if the source of your audio is coded as 5.1 or.
note that most of usual stuff you might be playing might not have sound encoded to 5.1 necessarily but might be 2.1 and thats why you are getting sound only from sound bar.
in the HDMI settings of the sound bar make sure you set both HDMI connections to standard not enhanced, not all devices support enhanced HDMI connection.
adjust rear speakers sensitivity and decibels from the setting menu and increase the volume accordingly.
have you tried replacing your HDMI connection??
and of course always use the ARC or eARC in your TV to connect the soundbar.
finally make sure you update both the soundbar and rear speakers via WiFi.
hope that helps
Hi has anyone found a fix to this problem yet. I’ve got the same problem.
