Playing camrecorder directly on the computer

Can you see directly (so nat after the recording) the pictures on a computer, or is this only possible on a TV

I don't know your camcorder model, but normally it should have at least some kind of USB driver that can enable it to be accessed by your PC and seen by specific application, i.e. WIndows Movie Maker, that permit getting, viewing and edit what is recorded on your camcorder

Yes, but if you have an older camcorder I'll recommend to acquire a video grabber device that converts analog video/audio from jack connections or s-vhs to USB. I used such a cheap device for digital conversion of my VHS tapes. PC grabbing SW are no problem.
