Hi garykeany,
welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:
Have you mentioned to Argos that your Reader was a dutch model..:smileyconfused:
If you want to download the user guide & quick starting guide so that you can copy them to your reader then use the following links..
As to the free books I believe these are only excerpts & not a full copy of the book so probably not worth worrying about..:smileywink:
That's interesting !
Is everything else on the device ib English ?
But, if you got to Support, ereaders, manuals, and you should be able to download it, so you can work the T1 at least - you want the imanual.
Someone more T1-savvy will have to tackle the Dutch bit on the machine. Specialist ?
Everything was in DUTCH including the 3 free books that came preinstalled. Was able to change language to ENGLISH in settings, so at least I can use the ereader.

And most will be on Project Gutenberg, MobileRead, etc.. and 1,000s more.
(All sites for "classic" public domain books, which most "offers" that come with all ereaders !)
There are more, can't think for the moment...
Many thanks for your help. Was able to download instruction manuals via the links, and transfer to my ereader.
Deleted the instructions that were in DUTCH.Also downloaded some of the 100 free ebooks when I registered ereader with Sony.
I have` nt told Argos about this problem.I took out the extra"protection cover" when I bought the ereader,so I probably would have been able to exchange it for another, but then that might have been in Dutch as well.Anyway as they say "All`s well that ends well."
Many thanks again to you all for your help.
I dont think you have a 'Dutch' version
I had the same problem with my ereader - except mine were all in Italian. I was able to reset the language and region to English/UK but the preloaded books remained Italian. In the end I ended up resetting the ereader and it was fine after that. (My best guess is that I brushed the screen somehow during its setting-up phase Or Sony just think I should be bilingual.)
NB It was not the 'soft' reset that you get from pushing the reset button on the bottom of the ereader. It was a 'hard' reset for which I could only find the instructions online. Do remember if you're doing this that you will most likely lose any/all books etc on the ereader so you'd have to reload them.
