I would like to download direct from my DCR-SR57E to an Apple Notebook laptop. At the moment it does not appear to be possible. Has anyone found an easy solution to this problem?

There have been cases of people having problems importing video to Macs from the SR57E. Apple claim it is a compatible camera, Sony say there is a fault with the Apple OS...

The problem appears to be Apple's handling of Mpeg-2 conversion. Some users have found success using a free app called VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html which may be a little slow but does the job.

Alternatively if you don't mind buying a QuickTime component from Apple, you can download MPEG Streamclip for free and follow the instructions on their webpage: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html

There are other comercially-available solutions but these two are the cheapest / easiest.
