Transfer files

Hi guys.

My dad has a Android tv, a Sony 

And he just recently bought a Sony camera (a cyber shot DSC-WC350) and he placed his pictures on his internal hard drive on the tv. But now he wanna transfer the pictures to an external hard drive.

But whenever he tried to copy/moves them he gets "Transfer denied"

So i am thinking that it's the internal hard drive that is blocking the pictures. 

How can we change that?

What model TV are we talking about here?

Also, how were the pictures initially transferred to the TV?

I share @Joe_Dohn ‘s puzzlement. No Sony Android TV has an internal hard drive.

which model of the TV and which version of android?

When AndroidTV was introduced, this worked just fine. Then android 6 came and broke that functionality, user was not able to write anything anymore. Just apps in their own folder.

Now that works again for me on XG95 with android 9 but have no idea which models did get update on version 9 or does it also fix on all of them.

On the other hand, if he did copied them to internal memory than it seems like he has writing permissions. So question is how he did that? If I remember correctly, when you wanna copy/create something for the first time you have to select root folder of that drive to give writing permissions. Maybe that is the problem.

Worst case scenario, if your dad does not have that photos on SD card in camera then you need to install some file manager on the TV and copy those photos to some network location and then from there back to that external drive that he can then plug to the tv.

My dad has the Sony KD-43XH8096 tv.

And He did place the pictures from the camera on the internal memory on the tv.

But he recently bought an external hard drive because he thought he could transfer the pictures from the internal memory to the external.

But it won't let us, Everytime we try we get the message "unsuccessful" something to do with it being protected.

I have tried to unlock it on the computer first but that won't work.
