Hi,

I have the same problem! I talked to them and I'm constantly lying that it solves the problem! SONY is fooling the world! In the store they have factory firmware and then when you get home it updates and you stay miserable !!! From the top came the most miserable! The population must be warned, they are making fun of us! NEVER BUY SONY TV !!! Post the reality about them everywhere, especially on trustpilot, facebook, instagram, twitter, etc! Help people not to have headaches and not to get nervous !!!

I have recorded conversations, I can prove how liar they are !!! A lady from Basingtoke, England I spoke to on the phone told me to send her the receipt. I was fooled and lied to !! another person from Basingtoke, England I spoke to, promised me that the next day I would have the solution in the email !!! No answer, I called again and they came with n reasons as in the other conversations !!! SONY IS NO LONGER WHAT IT WAS, IS OF ALL SHAME !!! IF YOU DON'T WANT A HEADACHE, AVOID, RUN FROM THEIR PRODUCTS !!!

The EU regulation is the cause of this message, and it's been introduced in an update for some models and installed by default on others.

Sony has also explained (I don't remember if it was Twitter or Facebook) that even though the UK is not in the EU, the products are sold in the entirety of Europe so they all behave the same way (more or less, please excuse my memory).

Hope this helps!

The inconvenient truth that I mentioned last time this claim of Sony’s came up (and to zero response, I may say) is that only UK sets get YouView.

So if Sony can differentiate UK sets from EU sets for this purpose (and it’s a pretty major differentiation) then why can’t they also differentiate them here and suppress this EU-only requirement on UK sets?

Enquiring minds want to know. And would like an answer this time, pretty please with sugar on top….

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

You have a good point, I honestly don't know for sure, I can only assume there's some kind of legal roadblock or something.

The topic has been blowing up in their face on socials ever since the update, and unless their hands are tied for some reason, I don't see why they wouldn't make the message let's say a one time appearance on every boot/restart for example (and this I saw recommended by another user somewhere, makes total sense to me).

Hopefully some more info is made available about this.

My problem is not with the message itself, let's say I can live with it (even though I consider it a joke from EU), but the way how Sony implemented it, it's an absolute catastrophe.. This should have never been accepted by their QA team..

My brother has a 65AF9 and has been unimpressed with the EU power consumption warning. His TV is just over 2 years old. This is part of their response after he escalated the support request-

"With regards to the bulletins you are receiving related to power consumption, this has been implemented based on the latest EU regulation for power consumption. In addition, this is an implementation in the UX to make our customers more conscious of the eco point of view of the new circular economy project. For UK, the same regulation as in the rest of EU remains until further change.

Sony is evaluating the impact and analysing if maybe for future software updates they implement the possibility to disable this message, but at this moment, this is not possible. This is not a fault of the TV."

Sony did offer a buy back or failing that compensation if he wasn't happy still. Maybe if Sony gets a whole load of people doing the same it might expedite a revised FW update. I'm delaying a purchase of the KE48A9 until they've thought of a less intrusive notification. I still may go the LG 48 inch route but do prefer the look of the Sony and the apparent Sony motion handling advantage. I'll be comparing the two side by side next month.

@chama-chomo that's the thing though, it didn't get accepted or got missed by the QA team. Everything seems to point to them being forced to have it pop up every time a relevant setting is changed (according to all the mentions of "regulations")

But from what I've also seen, they seem to be showing interest and taking feedback and I predict some sort of dialing down will be introduced sometime soon. It has been made clear as day that this is way too intrusive and annoying.

any employee named x, y, z, who works for sony, represents the company!
when you talk to them, regardless of how they communicate, sony is directly
responsible for the answers you receive !!! It is very clear to everyone
here that we are fooled and nothing will be done !!! sony is the only brand
that has this problem, and speaking of quality .... I'm not in the top yet
!!! there are other brands with much better performances and which are very
serious !!! If you have a problem and the one who answers the phone on
behalf of the company and tells you that tomorrow you have the problem
solved, tomorrow your problem is guaranteed solved !!!

SONY IS A LONG TALK AND A LOT OF LIES !!!

I'm not sure where this is coming from, but you're of course correct, if a rep said something, whatever it is, he/she is representing Sony, so they're of course responsible.

Though, all I've seen so far around this topic is Sony taking feedback into consideration and confirming that they do. It's not much, but it might be a sign of what is to come? You can never really be sure what's going on behind the scenes but I prefer to feel heard than ignored, which I do in this instance.

You've clearly had a bad experience though, so I understand how you feel.

Hoping for some good news soon for everyone.

Hi,

IT TAKED 3 WEEKS TO COME WITH ANOTHER LIE !!!

DO NOT LIE TO ME! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING !!! IF YOU UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM SOLVE IT IN EXTREMPLY SHORT TIME !!!

THESE WORDS "GOOD NEWS COMING SOON" HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY LONG TIME IN THE PAST! !!!

"SOON" CAN BE .... A SECOND, ONE WEEK, ONE MONTH, ONE YEAR, A CENTURY, UNTIL INFINITY! THIS WORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIXED TIME OR DATE !!!

So that person representing sony is responsible, what are you doing? excuse her or support her ??? I understand that it is a model for colleagues in the company! and all the employees from the sony company, are happy that a colleague makes fun of them and represents them !!!Do you think those behind the scenes care ?! It was LOGICAL to pay me compensation for what that person said and to send him home without the right to work and in addition to being sent to discipline courses !!! Those behind the scenes rather drink coffee and laugh at us because we are stupid and buy crap with the sony name! The message on the menu became too annoying and agitated, I got nervous and destroyed it with a big hammer!  I will post and film if it helps! so once again! DO YOU WANT TO BE NERVOUS ALL THE TIME? DO YOU WANT TO SPEAKING ALONE? ........ ??? BUY SONY !!!I prefer to buy an unnamed TV, where, if you have problems, the call center is very kind and punctual! ANY PROBLEM IS SOLVED IN THE PROMISED TIME !!! AND RESPECT HUMANITY !!!

BYE BYE SONY forever !!!

Will technology beat you or .......... ??? 😊))
