I recently bought the KD49XH8505BU. I have a satellite dish, LNB and cable. I know they work as I also have a separate satellite rx which receives many channels on different satellites. I'd like to use the tuner built into the new Sony TV (more modern and should be able to use a single remote).
I've connected my satellite cable to the main satellite connector but after a scan (of Astra 28 east) no channels have been identified. Now I know the dish/LNB/cable combination work. I've spent a couple of hours on the phone to Sony about this but I am getting nowhere.
Has anyone managed to get the satellite tuner to work in this TV (or a similar one from the Sony range)? if so, I'd very much like to know how.
I should add that this is the second of these TVs I've had with this problem.
Can anyone with a 8505 series Tv let me know if they've managed to get the satellite tuner working?
Hi jazzguy9, have you turned on YoView? If yes the satellite won't work.
Check this link for connections: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/kd-49xe9005/artic...
Check these steps:

Thanks. I've disabled Youview but it makes no difference. I cannot scan in any satellite channels.
Hey jazzguy9, if you followed the instructions on the above link by Sony, then I would say it might be a connection issue and you need a specialist. But before that you can make sure that your TV is up to date and try a factory reset.
Many thanks again. I did the factory reset on my previous (new) KD49XH8505 and the terrestrial TV ceased to work after that! On the current set, the software is up to date.
I've been trying to get help from Sony for 2 weeks now and am getting nowhere. For example, they keep insisting on a photograph showing the signal strength of the satellite signal. They do not seem to understand that I cannot provide that as I cannot scan in any channels. To my mind, there is a clear problem with the satellite tuner but I cannot get them to accept this.
You can get the information they're asking for by pressing Help on your remote, then Status & Diagnostics - Signal Diagnostics.
Hope this helps!

Sorry for the delay replying. I'm afraid what you have suggeted doesn't work. As I can't scan in anything by satellite, the signal diagnostics simply show a terrestrial TV channel.
All the evidence points to a faulty tuner in the TV.
I'm not sure what you mean by scanning here, since you can switch to the channel as it is saved (even if it doesn't actually work) since it is still the information they're looking for.
Though, if you haven't already, try removing all of the satellite and aerial connections from the TV, then tune both satellite and aerial (without either connected) to reset the tuner.
Hope this helps!
