Sony A1 tv stand overhang

Hi guys.

I've found an kd55a1 for a very good price however it will overhang the edges of my tv stand by about 1.5" on either side.

I'm just wondering would this cause any issues with weight distribution? any risks to damaging the screen?

hopefully someone can answer fast as it's on clearance and the last one in stock.

Thanks in advance

Tony

According to this review:-

“Do be aware, though, that you’ll want a wide piece of furniture for the A1 to stand upon. The ends of the display (which is 122cm wide) can hang over the edges of a shelf or stand without issue, but it doesn’t look quite right. You won’t want to plonk it on top of something that’s too high, either, as the angle of the screen makes it look odd.”

Hello @Itstonyb,

as long as the TVs feet are completly on the stand, I don't see any problem.

It though would be great, if you could share an image of your TV setup.

Thanks guys.

I've been pondering on this overnight (the tv is still available)

It's a hard decision even though my wife is telling me I should buy it (this is a new one for me!)

I'm gonna ***** in tomorrow and take another look.

Edit: no idea why it's editing p o p

Hi @Itstonyb. In the past I have simply bought a “plank” or section of shelf which matches the TV base dimensions. Painted it to match the furniture and then place it on top of the cabinet with the TV on top of the “plank”.

Hi @Itstonyb

The only consideration here is a cosmetic one

My TV overhangs the stand and it just makes the TV look bigger lol.

@LightFoot nice idea with the blended in shelf

Hey guys I forgot to get back to you.

Here's the tv installed. It's absolutely stunning even the wife thinks it's miles better than the XD8305 and thinks the purchase was entirely worthwhile (small victory there!)

Yakuza Kiwami doesn't really show it at its best but it's what I had on when I remembered.

One last one of horizon too but the hdr messed up the photo.

Thanks again for all of your advice

Hello @Itstonyb,

I don't see any issue with that setup.
