I've read loads of forum posts about this and cannot solve it. I have a KD-65XE8596 on the latest firmware v6.5629 which I updated today.
I started out thinking that iPlayer wasn't working so when through this forum which led to me updating the firmware and performing a factory reset afterwards.
I have since found out that actually none of the catchup apps work (iPlayer, itv, 4, demand5, BBC News, BBC Sport). They all act the same with a black screen and the message "Loading. Please wait..." followed by "An error has occured. Please try again later." I have tried 2 factory resets and numerous soft resets. I have also tried with and without YouView enabled with no change.
These apps however work just fine, YouTube, NetFlix, Plex, Spotify so I know all the internet is working correctly, it's wired in with a cable and wifi is actually disabled on the TV.
I've seen a few mentions of the BT Hub needing changes but I'm not with BT, I have a Synology router and am happy to make changes on that if needed.
EDIT: I should have posted this in Android TV's if an admin can move it??
Hi Si,
Welcome to the community.
Please try the troubleshooting tips here and let us know if that helps.
Best wishes,
Ed
Ed,
The only usful link from that page is re iPlayer and nothing on there has helped.
Last night I again did a hard reset on the TV and this time connected only the WiFi instead of the ethernet with the same result. None of the catchup apps are working at all.
Hi Si_Hill,
I guess you've done most of the troubleshooting steps, I know that all other internet apps work fine, however, I still would recommend trying a Hotspot connection from a smartphone instead of the router and check the results. It might be something related to the internet settings.
Hope this helps,

Almou_10 good call on trying a hotspot, hadnt thought of that but sadly the same result for all the catchup apps.
I tried to run the software update from the TV (I updated it via usb stick) and interestingly that also seems to get frozen on "Searching...", the animated line still moves but I left it for a good 5mins and it never progressed beyond Searching.
I am an IT technician so I'm happy to try anything more in depth but so far I'm sure I've tried everything. Its getting frustrating, whats the next step?
Simon
Hi Simon,
I guess if you tried the reset and couldn't update or play any of the catch-up services, this means there might be a faulty component in the TV board. I'd recommend checking the TV with a Sony service centre and they will inspect and fix it for free as long as the TV is still in warranty.
You can locate the nearest Sony service centre using this link: http://bit.ly/2HUo9mF.
