ITVX app 'error occurred' message

ITVX app was fine until yesterday (12 April). Sony TV Model is KD-49XH8505. Suddenly icon has changed from ITVX to ITV for no apparent reason and I'm getting a message which reads: "Update to ITVX. Some features may be limited in this version of the app. Please update the ITVX app from your app store. An error has occurred. ObjectfromEntries is not a function."

Have tried everything but it's apparently not possible to uninstall and reinstall unless I do a factory reset. Sony won't refer it up unless I do a factory reset first. Don't want to do that as I can't recall all the passwords from when we set up things like Amazon Prime, Now etc etc and so getting by casting via chromecast from tablet, which is OK but a bit cumbersome and shows that the problem is with the inner workings of the TV. Has anyone with a similar model found a way of sorting this? Thanks!

Thanks for comments, everyone. ITVX appears to be up and running now, after a two-day hiatus. Perhaps all those emails to Sony from everyone have done the trick. Hopeful it's now working on everyone else's Sony TV, too. Definitely some compatibility problems between Sony and ITV though.

I just wrote a load of stuff in here but then had to go look bits up. Came back and this ***** ***** website has blanked it all out and just it. Sony are just as ***** when it comes to websites as TV software.

The safest thing to do is start a new tab for your explorations, and then return to the open Sony tab with your findings.

But even using the same tab, as long as you return to the Sony tab with however many back arrows you need, it will still be intact.

Even if you blow things up by closing the Sony tab completely, and then reopening it, so it looks like your posting in progress is gone, then as long as you start a new reply to exactly the same posting that you started from before, you will get this:-

And though the box is now empty, pressing ‘Load’ in the grey box there will bring back all, or almost all, of the posting you were working on.

Sony made a good choice of almost unburstable Community software.

I got the usual rubbish reply from Sony. As it sorted now we can only assume that somebody at ITV flicked the right switch back on.
