Hi I have a KD-49XH9505 and it’s an amazing tv however I was told it had the Apple TV app ( not just airplay) but I asked Apple and they said yes it does support that tv speak to Sony so I spoke to Sony who said speak to Apple -? Anyone know if it’s coming or should I have it ? It’s a shame my son has the 2019 SAMSUNG tv and that has it already - I have a 2020 Sony TV and no one seems to know what’s happening ? Thanks Paul

I may be wrong, maybe someone else can shed more light on this. If the TV has Airplay 2 I think you are supposed to be able to stream directly from the Apple TV+ App on your iPhone/iPad. I could be wrong. I am still confused about this myself.

I have been doing some investigating as well since posting my similar question and came across this listing of Sony TV's with compatibility. Mine isn't on it, I can't see your either but the list may have been updated since then.

Hi
Thought mine was on there but may just be me looking at it wrong - mine does have home kit compatability ( I’ve linked mine ) and I can use AirPlay already to play things from my iPhone and iPad - but I was told there would be an app that allows me to watch Apple TV as my son has in his SAMSUNG tv. This is what I find annoying with Sony -I’ve tried finding out you ask a simple question and you get fobbed off all the time you would think they would know !!! Ah well thanks so much h for coming back to me 🙂

Hi - the app on the TV basically turns your tv into an Apple TV box certainly that’s what it does on the SAMSUNG but maybe your right ? Tried streaming from my iPhone X via airplay and a very fast broadband but certainly my stream wasn’t 4K like Netflix , Amazon Prime etc and picture was good but not excellent and if I’ve just paid all this money I want excellent !! Hahah - Like you say so little info out there maybe I’ve just got the wrong end of the stick ? Really appreciate you coming back to me though 🙂

Hi
thanks for the reply I can definitely Use the airplay and the HomeKit part but the only way of Me watching any of Apple TV is by streaming using the airplay off my iPhone or iPad - not ideal - SAMSUNG have all that and an actual Apple TV app so basically turns the tv into an Apple TV box , I was told Sony where getting the app when I bought the tv which saves me paying £180 for the Apple TV box but now no one seems to know what’s happening at Sony - I’ve asked many times - they refer me to Apple , Apple says it is getting the app and should be avail so back to Sony I go and they have no idea ? Very frustrating !!! Thanks anyway 🙂
