AF9 Lip Sync Issues Sky Q/Sonos Beam
- Trying to get some resolution to ongoing lip sync issues with my SkyQ/AF/Sonos Beam system. SkyQ goes into HDMI 1, which is set to enhanced, and is configured for Dolby Digital for the audio output via HMDI. The Sonos beam is connected to eARC and the digital out output is set to Dolby Digital on the AF9.
To get close to acceptable lip sync I have to set the TV dialog sync setting to its max in the sonos app. Even then it isn’t quite right and what is more it varies over time. Can be watching one minute and it is acceptable, 30 minutes later it is noticeably out.
Watch SkyQ or AF9 internal sources on TV speaker and lip sync is fine. Watch Sky Q or TV sources using Sonos Beam and problem is the same on both. So to my simplistic mind it appears to be an issue with the way the AF9 is putting audio into the eARC signal. Or a config issue.
Any suggestions.

If it's the same on everything maybe the issue is with the Sonos itself, have you tried the same connections with a laptop or another TV?

Sonus is fine when connected to the optical out of an old Sony KDL4000, on both internal TV tuner and Sky mini box.
It is OK when connected direct to optical out on SkyQ box. But that isn’t a workable solution as I have blu-ray and apps in the TV to that I use.
Also not sure what in the Sonos Beam would make the audio early.

I'm not really sure what in the TV would cause that either, it's just HDMI doing what HDMI does as usual.
Did you check out the new software update for your TV yesterday (v6.5042)? Maybe that will help.

No haven’t tried that. Will see if the TV will update later this evening.

It usually takes time for the TV to "see" the update, so you might want to give the USB method a try instead of waiting (unless you don't mind the wait).

I will probably wait. Have never tried the USB method. I have just put the set into game mode. Will withhold judgement one whether it is detrimental to picture quality but does seem to have bought the lip sync within range of the Sonos adjustment window.

Do let us know once you apply the update. It'll be really helpful, especially for those who may come across the same issue in the future ^^

Did the update about a week ago. It hasn’t done anything to improve my lip sync issues.

Hi Turnbacktime, try a factory reset after the update, it usually works.
