Hi, I have a Bravia KD55XF8096 which has started flashing 6 red lights at startup - I've tried reseting and it gets to the coloured circles on screen, then flashes red again...I've performed factory reset and gone through the motions of initial setup, but when it comes to tuning the TV, it bombs again with the 6 flashing red light sequence. I tried downloading latest firmware to USB and inserting that at startup, but no change....Any ideas of what this might be, or how to resolve ?
Many Thanks
The flashing lights are a diagnostic error, since the reset and software update are not affecting it, you should definitely reach out to the Sony support reps, as it will most likely need repairing.
Thanks for reply, appreciated.. - I started live chat with Sony - The guy there said the 6 lights are due to a panel/screen error and would need to be taken for repair !
I've only had the TV for around 2.5 years - They don't make them like they used to do they !
I've emailed my nearest Sony repair centre and will see what they say.
I actually fired up the TV this morning and went through the setup motions again, which actually went through to the end this time and managed to get onto Yourview - Watched BBC for around 5 mins before the screen went black with the 6 flashing lights. Turned on again and this time with Sky - much the same, 5 mins and dreaded red lights.
Will update when I hear from Sony Repair 😞
It seems like everything does work properly but then the TV detects an error and shuts down with those 6 lights.
Thanks for the detailed update and good luck with the repair my friend!

Thanks again for replying.
I looked for the original receipt, and fortunately found it, I purchased the TV from a store that offers 5 year guarantee on all TVs - So contacted them.
They then referred the TV for repair to the same Sony repair centre that I had been talking to on email about the issue.
As the guy was familiar with my issue, he advised them of the cost of a new screen, and they rejected the repair.
I came off the phone to the store yesterday, and they have offered me a replacement TV of the same spec, so I have a 2020 version on it's way - I did pay a little extra and upgraded it to a KE55XH9005 - This also comes with a new 5 year guarantee - so I'm covered for a while. Plus they will collect the old one for recycling.
I have fired up the old TV again, and it does start, but only lasts between 5-10 minutes before blacking out with the 6 red lights.
Cheers !
That's some great news! And congrats on the new TV!
I believe this one is fully compatible with PS5 and the HDMI 2.1 features, this should be future-proofing you for a while as well as the warranty cover.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share an update as well, this will help others in the same boat ^^
